Create an Oracle Snapshot

In System Management Center, you can generate Oracle snapshots on request to help analyze and troubleshoot performance issues.

To create an Oracle snapshot:

  1. In System Management Center, click Diagnostics in the left navigation and click Queries.

  2. Click Start Snapshot on the ribbon.

  3. Click OK in the Status dialog box.

  4. Click the End Snapshot button.
    Review the available snapshot reports displayed in the left pane. The Oracle AWR HTML Report by Snapshot ID Range is displayed by default in the right pane.
    To save the AWR HTML report, click the Save to Local Disk button.

  5. To generate the Top 8 SQL ID report, click Oracle - Reports for Top 8 SQL ID by Elapsed Time under Queries and review the results in the right pane.
    To export snapshot reports to Excel, click the Export All button. 
    NOTE:  The AWR HTML report cannot be exported to Excel.

  6. To generate an SQL Tune Report, scroll to the right to locate the SQLTUNE_REPORT column and click the browse icon (ellipsis).
    The generated report assists in identifying bottlenecks in the database caused by SQL executions and identifies which SQL is causing the bottleneck.

  7. To generate the Sessions report, click Oracle - Sessions Report by AWR under Queries and review the results in the right pane.
    Click the browse button in the right pane to open the Cell content dialog box to view the details.

  8. To return to the Queries workspace, click the Queries bottom tab.
