Calculate the Variation Margin Amount for Contracts

In the Run Variation Margin panel, you can calculate and approve variation margin. You can use the Run Variation Margin panel to calculate and approve variation margin in one step. Or, you can use the Run Variation Margin panel to calculate variation margin and then use the Approve Variation Margin panel to approve variation margin. The margin process calculates variation margin, calculates unrealized gain/loss, and creates rows in the Income object in the Position Viewer tool for the position.

To calculate the variation margin:

  1. In Accounting Center, in the left navigation pane, click Processing and Exceptions > Global Processes > Earnings > Run Variation Margin.
    You see the Run Variation Margin panel.

  2. Complete the options on the Run Variation Margin panel.

  3. Click Submit.
