Create New Action Fields

In the Reference Data workspace, you can create new action fields.

To create an action field:

  1. In the Setup workspace, in the left navigation, click Metadata>Reference Data Field Settings.
    You see the Reference data Field Settings workspace with list of available reference data fields.

  2. Click the Action fields tab.
    You see the list of available action fields.

  3. Click Create New.
    You see the Create New dialog box.

  4. In the Name box, enter a name for the linked field.

  5. Optionally, you can enter a Description for the field.

  6. Select a Type from the drop-down list, options include:
    –  Actions based on alternate data set- This is a work variable, which can be used in the auxiliary SMF data strategies ( Variable Rates or Ratings) to populate the SMF information from the Security Details screen in the Variable Rate tab or Ratings tab and can add conditional logic to hide or show fields.
    –  Actions based for same data set - This is similar to a work variable, which can be used in any data strategy and or  code value lookup and drive conditional logic on the UI to show or hide any fields.
    –  Dynamic Action based on function -A new type of action field was added to execute a procedure and function field attribute for an existing security and return the result in the security details screen. Based on the result the fields can be locked or defaulted to any value. This type of action field will be used to verify whether the security has a position and based on that, can lock key fields  (Process Sec type).
    Action field types, which cannot be created by clients and has built in logic in the application:
    –  Initiate Secondary Action -This is a type of action field which has built in logic to generate reset schedule.
    – Action Based on Function - This is a type of action field, which has built in logic to insert/update underlying security data.

  7. Select a Code from the drop-down list.

  8. Enter the Star Tag in the space provided.

  9. Select a Value Type from the drop-down list. Options include:
    –  Decimal
    –  Character
    –  Date
    –  Character Numeric
    –  Wide Character
    –  Security

  10. Click Save & Close.
