Transfer Data Using the S2P Delta Mode

The STAR to PACE Delta mode captures backdated activity and position changes and updates the accounting data in Eagle PACE. Your organization's data requirements determine when and how often you run the Delta process. For example, if you require intraday reporting or performance, you can set up the S2P Delta mode to run at user defined intervals. If you do not require intraday reporting or performance measurement, you can set the S2P Delta mode to run once at the end of the day, prior to the end of day STAR to PACE batch run as scheduled.

To transfer accounting data using the S2P Delta mode:

  1. In Accounting Center, in the left navigation pane, click Processing and Exceptions > Global Processes.
You see the Global Process workspace.

  2. In the left navigation, click STAR to PACE Direct Processing > Transfer Data - Delta.
You see the Transfer Data - Delta panel.

  3. Complete the options on the Transfer Data - Delta panel.
For more information about using the Entity Parameters options, see About Qualifying Entities to Process in Batch or Delta Mode.

  4. Click Submit.
You see the Status window with the status of your request.

  5. Click Print to print the status information. Or, click OK to close the Status window.
You see the Global Processing Results in the bottom pane. The Summary tab shows the event types associated with your request, along with a batch identifier. The Detail tab shows the processing status for each event.

Entity Parameters

Process Center

Segregates entities into "n" amount of Process Center groups. Doing so allows you to allocate the STAR to PACE workload across multiple STAR engine instances. The STAR to PACE Direct functionality generates the individual request messages for each entity/accounting basis combination at a much faster rate using Process Centers. The global processes incorporate the ability to run by the entity Process Center election. This allows you to schedule STAR to PACE Direct runs by custom defined groups.

Note: Eagle strongly recommends that you use either this option or the Conversion Status option.

Conversion Status

Specifies the conversion status. Global processes incorporate the ability to run by the entity Conversion Status election. This allows you to include/exclude STAR to PACE Direct runs by the status of the entity (if, for example, entities in a specific Conversion Status are not ready for STAR to PACE Direct).

Note: Eagle strongly recommends that you use either this option or the Process Center option. Specify a conversion status only as part of the initial data conversion process. Do not use it for normal production processing.

Partition Number

Specifies the database partition for the position. This value is automatically established by a lookup based on the specific entity.

Run Options

Delta Date Type

Specifies the delta date type. Options include:

  • Accounting Date (Default). The system assigns the accounting date record a source of STARDIRECT (or one of the secondary accounting bases).

Date Range - End Date

Specifies the current date for the delta process. The system automatically populates this value. The default is today's date. The system generates result data for the date range between this date and the date on the transaction. Different Process Centers have different current dates.

Data Filter

Specifies the type of data. Options include:

  • Positions. Sends positions and cash balances.

  • Positions/Open Lots. Sends positions, cash balances, and open lots.

  • Positions/Open Lots/Trades/Disposal Lots. Sends positions, cash balances, open lots, trades, and disposal lots.

  • Positions/Open Lots/Trades/Disposal Lots/Cash Activity. Sends positions, cash balances, open lots, trades, disposal lots, and cash activity.

  • Positions/Open Lots/Trades/Disposal Lots/Settled Cash. Sends positions, cash balances, open lots, trades, disposal lots, and settled cash.

  • Positions/Open Lots/Trades/Disposal Lots/Cash Activity/Settled Cash (Default). Sends positions, cash balances, open lots, trades, disposal lots, cash activity, and settled cash.

  • Positions/Trades/Disposal Lots. Sends positions, cash balances, trades, and disposal lots.

  • Positions/Trades/Disposal Lots/Cash Activity. Sends positions, cash balances, trades, disposal lots, and cash activity.

  • Positions/Trades/Disposal Lots/Cash Activity/Settled Cash. Sends positions, trades, disposal lots, cash activity, and settled cash.

  • Positions/Trades/Disposal Lots/Settled Cash. Sends positions, trades, disposal lots, and settled cash.

  • Positions/Cash Activity. Sends positions and cash activity.

Note: The value you select for Batch mode must correspond to the value you select when you use the Delta mode, to ensure the necessary data accuracy for reporting and Performance Measurement. If you are not using Eagle's Performance Measurement solution, you do not need cash activity data posted to Eagle PACE, because you can directly use the ESTAR cash activity tables.

Position Valuation Election

Specifies the price used by S2P. Options include:

  • Default. Use the latest price available.

  • Valuation. Used by appropriate STAR valuation process.

Control Center Switch

Determines whether to integrate STAR to PACE Direct with the Control Center functionality. Options include:

  • Yes. Notify Control Center when a position changes in Eagle Accounting.

  • No. Do not notify Control Center when a position changes in Eagle Accounting.

Include Zero Positions (Days)

Determines whether Eagle Accounting includes zero positions in the result set for a specified number of days past the position's last settlement date. This field is automatically populated with a value of "0" and you must only change the option after discussions with your relationship Manager about your processing workflow.

The process automatically generates zero positions through the position's last settlement date. This enables Eagle Accounting to transfer positions with accrued income between the trade and the settlement date or equity positions that have a quantity of zero, but have an open dividend or reclaim receivable. Additionally, the current quantity may be zero while the settled quantity is not zero.

Note: The value you select for delta mode must correspond to the value you use for the Batch mode to ensure accurate data for reporting and performance.

Event Type

Displays the event value GEN_STARPACE_DELTA.

FX Date Switch

Indicates whether the process extracts the FX rate for the given accounting date or the most recent available FX rate. Options include:

  • Actual. Extracts the FX rate for the given accounting date.

  • Recent. Extracts the FX rate for the most recent available FX rate.
Note: The value you select for delta mode must correspond to the value you use for the Batch mode to ensure accurate data for reporting and performance.

Price Date Switch

Indicates whether the process extracts the price for the given accounting date or the most recent available price. Options include:

  • Actual. Extracts the price for the given accounting date.

  • Recent. Extracts the most recent available price.

The system uses the following hierarchy for calculating valuations in Eagle PACE:

  • Short Term Security logic (cost or price method)

  • Price Override

  • Price Table

  • No Price Found logic (entity accounting basis election)

Note: The value you select for delta mode must correspond to the value you use for the Batch mode to ensure accurate data for reporting and performance.

SPD Cash Balances Switch

Indicates whether STAR to PACE Direct rolls up cash balances by currency and cash account in the Eagle data warehouse. In the STAR database, the system stores cash balances at the asset and custodian level. Options include:

  • Sourced from Cash Balances. Allows STAR to PACE Direct to use the ESTAR_TRADED_CASH_BALANCE table and the ESTAR_SETTLED_CASH_BALANCE table to provide cash balances in the position and lot level position tables for both non custody and custody accounting bases. It generates cash balances for all five date types (post, trade, accounting, settle, and month end accounting). It creates cash records for each custody cash account level in the data warehouse lot level. This option allows you to report on segregated cash balances if you use cash segregation, and affects all accounting bases for a given entity.

  • Sourced from Cash Activity. Default. Allows STAR to PACE Direct to use cash information from the STAR cash activity tables and the cost cash blob. This legacy option does not allow you to report on segregated cash balances if you use cash segregation.

Income Based Cash Switch

Indicates whether to generate an income based cash record. Options include:

  • Settled cash (Default). When you initiate the STAR to PACE Process, the process populates income based cash activity by using the actual income settlement event (ESTAR_SETTLED_CASH_ACTIVITY table record).

  • Traded cash. When you initiate the STAR to PACE Process, the process populates income based cash activity from the income entitlement event (ESTAR_TRADED_CASH_ACTIVITY table record).

Note: The S2P Position Income Receivable Switch determines whether or not the income receivables populate the position records and works independent of the CASH_ACTIVITY records creation. You may populate the CASH_ACTIVITY table by using the income based cash settlement event or the performance computation and still have income receivables values populate from the income entitlement event for positions reporting.

S2P Position Income Receivable Switch

Indicates whether to store income receivable data on the individual data warehouse position records. Options include:

  • Insert Income Receivable Values (Default). Eagle Performance recommends selecting this value.

  • Do Not Insert Income Receivable Values. Select this value if you have a requirement to calculate performance returns using a custom and non AIMR-compliant performance calculation.

Note: The value you select for delta mode must correspond to the value you use for the Batch mode to ensure accurate data for reporting and performance.

Calculate Contractual Settlement

Indicates whether to calculate contractual settlement. STAR to PACE Direct stores contractual settlement values in Eagle PACE. These fields require additional processing, which affects the performance of the STAR to PACE Direct Batch and Delta process. Options include:

  • Yes. Calculate contractual settlement. Select this value only if calculation of contractual settlement is necessary.

  • No. Do not calculate contractual settlement. For optimal performance, select this value if calculation of contractual settlement is not necessary.

System Currency

Displays the system currency for calculating enterprise wide performance returns, if specified. For details about setting up a system currency to calculate enterprise wide performance returns, see Add a System Currency to Calculate Performance Returns.

Note: If you specified a system currency for Performance Measurement use, the Batch mode process values portfolio holdings, income receivables, and cash activity in the system currency for all portfolios across the entire enterprise.
