The _mi streams are .prf streams containing several XSLT translators to split the initial file into separate types and calling the load:

There are more objects within this type of streams to provide functionality, so it takes more time to get them processed and it may send more confusing report messages containing information about all types allowed, not only those you are using. Therefore, we recommend using specific non-_mi streams when extended functionality is redundant or processing time is a crucial parameter for your task.
