Add a Custom Security Cross-Reference Identifier to Reference Data

Standard content provided with the installation of Reference Data Center (RDC) includes the components and configuration for approximately ten market identifiers. Often, additional identifiers are needed to support internal processing or specific security types. Reference Data Center can support an unlimited number of cross-reference (Xref) identifiers however, each must be configured correctly in order for RDC to recognize and process them.

To add a new cross-reference identifier (Xref ID) in RDC:

  1. In Reference Data Center, in the left navigation pane, select Setup Metadata > Codes.
You see the Codes/Code Values tab in the Codes workspace.

  2. To expand the Search Details pane, click the chevron to the right of the screen.

  3. In the Code Name field, enter iXreftype and click Search.
You see the iXreftyype displayed in the list of codes/code values.

  4. In the list of values that displays, double-click the selected iXreftyype.
You see the Edit Code/Code Value wizard.

  5. Click the Code Values tab and confirm that the Xref type is in the list of code values. If not, create a new code value for the Xref type.
The short description of the code value must exactly match the value that will be used as the Xref type of the identifier.

  6. From the left navigation, click Setup > Metadata > Direct and Derived Fields.
You see the Direct and Derived Fields workspace.

  7. On the toolbar, click Create New > Security Xreference.
You see the Create New Security Xreference Field dialog.

  8. In the Field Properties tab, in the Type list, select the type that was added.

  9. In the Field list, select Xref Security ID as the field.

  10. Only select an Exchange from the list if it is part of the security resolution logic used for this cross-reference type.

  11. Click the Options tab and under Define Inventory Parameters, assign a unique Eagle STAR tag number to the field. The XML and Field Identifier populate automatically once you click Save.
NOTE: Typically, the 7000-7249 series tags can be used for this purpose as they are reserved for client use. Begin with 7000, then 7001, 7002, and so on ensuring that no other cross-reference identifier has the same tag number. As part of the implementation documentation, it's good practice to maintain a list of STAR tags that have been assigned to each custom Xref ID to prevent duplication.

  12. Add the new field attribute to the existing Xreference Identifier field group in RDC, or if there are a large number of custom IDs, create a new field group and add it there.
