Manage Error Codes
You can use the Setup workspace in Reference Data Center (RDC) to add, view, and edit the error codes used by Reference Data Center for field validation. You can define error codes and messages in different languages.
Create an Error Code
You can create error codes for use with field validations.
To create an error code:
In Reference Data Center, in the left navigation pane, select Setup > Errors.
You see the Errors workspace with the current list of error codes.On the toolbar, click Create New
You see the Create New dialog.In the Center list, select Reference Data Center.
In the Code field, the system assigns a unique identifier.
Specify the severity for the error.
Options include:
– Critical. Default. This option blocks the use of the flagged field in the security composite; the field must be corrected.
– Warning. This option allows the use of the flagged field in the security composite; the error is considered informational.In the Description field, enter a description of the error.
In the Business Description field, optionally enter a business description of the error.
In the Resolution field, enter a suggested resolution for the error.
Click Save & Close.
You see the refreshed list of all the available error codes.
View and Edit Error Codes
You can view and edit error codes.
To view and edit error codes:
In Reference Data Center, in the left navigation pane, select Setup > Errors.
You see the Errors workspace with the current list of error codes.Select the error code you wish to view or edit and click Edit on the toolbar.
You see the Edit Errors panel.Review the information, make the appropriate changes, and click Save & Close.
You see the refreshed list of error codes.
Duplicate an Error Code
You can duplicate and existing error code.
To duplicate an existing error code:
In Reference Data Center, in the left navigation pane, select Setup > Errors.
You see the Errors workspace with the current list of error codes.Select the error code you wish to duplicate and click Duplicate on the toolbar.
You see the Duplicating Error panel.Review the information, make the appropriate changes, and click Save & Close.
You see the refreshed list of error codes.
Delete an Error Code
You can delete an error code.
To delete an error code:
In Reference Data Center, in the left navigation pane, select Setup > Errors.
You see the Errors workspace with the current list of error codes.Select the error code you wish to delete and click Delete on the toolbar.
You see the Confirmation box asking you to confirm your action.Review the information and click Ok.
The code is removed from the list of available codes.
