Manage Code Maps

In the Codes workspace, you can create, modify and delete Code Maps.

Code Maps allows you to convert STAR value to another value defined in the Code Values. This is very much useful in reporting, wherein you can convert the values without altering the core processes in STAR. For example, you can convert a STAR GL account number to another account number.

The code map is defined by establishing a code map name, tags to map and the table used for the conversion.  The source tag and destination tags are both tags within the report.  In the Code Map, the source tag is the tag that will be looked up in the code value table and the destination tag is where the code value description is converted to.

This is the name that links the reports and queries to the actual value.

  4. Enter a tag for the source code, which needs to be translated in the Source Tag box.
This is the code value tag in your result query that you want to translate to long description. The given source tag must be unique for a given Code Map.

  5. Enter a tag for the destination code, which contains the translated value in the Destination tag.
This tag can be the same as the Source Tag (replaces the source Short Description with the translated Long Description) for the given tag's code value. You may opt to keep both values so that the Destination tag can be a different tag than the Source Tag.

  6. Click Code Category Name list to select the code category whose Code Values is translated.
You see the available list of code categories. You can select one or more code category for a Code map.
