Schedule Model Submissions

To submit a model on a scheduled basis, you define or edit a model, and associate it with one or more Data Mart schedules. You can include a Data Mart schedule in an event package for regular population of the Mart.

You can schedule a model submission as a PACE event package, with events set up in Data Mart. You can link each model to any number of Data Mart events, known as schedules. Scheduled submission always takes place for all models linked to all Data Mart events in an event package, and for all entities eligible for those models. You set up the Data Mart event, assign it a name, and select from the same date rule information you use to submit a model ad hoc. You can also assign the same options that are available when you submit a model on an ad hoc basis. See Submit Models as Ad Hoc for information about these settings.

You can assign more than one schedule to a single Data Mart model. For example, suppose your month end close process routinely takes place over 2-3 business days of the following month, during which you are making corrections to prior month data.

You may want to schedule a daily re-calculation of Data Mart data as of month end, along with the regular daily submission of models. You can now do this by setting up, in addition to the regular daily schedule, another schedule that features a date rule indicating prior month end as the effective date. You can assign both schedules to any model to accomplish this goal.

You assign multiple schedules per model in the Schedule to Run dialog box on the Definition tab when creating a Group model or editing any model. Check the box of any schedules for which the model should run.

Add a Schedule

In Manage Mart window, you can create a schedule for the Data Mart.

To add a Data Mart schedule:

  1. In Reporting Center, from the left navigation, select Reporting Tools > Datamart > Manage Marts > Data Mart.
You see the Data Mart workspace.

  2. Click the Schedules link.
You see the Data Mart Schedules dialog box.

  3. Click Add.
You see the Data Mart Schedule Definition dialog box.

  4. In the Description box, provide a description of the schedule field.

  5. Under Schedule Type section, select the type of schedule for the field. Options include:
    - Build All. Displays the Scheduled Models dialog box, allowing you to assign models to schedules. See Assign Models to a Build All Schedule for details.
    - Selective Build. Displays the Data Mart Schedules dialog box, allowing you to select the fields that are populated for a specified schedule when you submit the model on a scheduled basis. See Copy a Schedule  for details.

  6. Click Snapshot to select Default or one of the snapshots you have defined. See Create Multiple Snapshots of Your Data for more details.

  7. In Date Rule for As of Date, select a date rule that translates the server date, for which the PACE event package is submitted, into an appropriate effective date for storage of this data in the Mart.
Typically, the Data Mart event package runs in the early post-midnight hours of an overnight update cycle. This means that the server date is set at the real-time date that overnight processing occurs, which typically is one business day after the appropriate effective date for storing the Mart data. You probably do not want the real time server date of overnight processing to be the effective date of the data you are posting, so if you use a Prior Business Date rule, you can make the prior business day the effective date of the data.

  8. Under Using section, select a single date rule or a set of date rules specific to each type of data. See Submit Models as Ad Hoc for detailed information about date rules.

  9. In the Comments box, provide descriptive comments, if any.

  10. Under Languages section, select Submit All Languages selected for the Model to submit the model for all the languages, if you have set up the language options for the model.

  11. Choose Select Specific Languages to Submit to submit only specific languages of the model for submission and click Select Languages to select the specific languages for the model.

  12. Under Currencies section, select Submit All Currencies selected for the Model to submit the model for all alternate currencies you have set up for the model.

  13. Choose Select Specific Currencies to Submit to submit only specific currencies of the model for submission and click Select Currencies to select the specific currencies for the model.

  14. Click Additional Options to set the data status and logging level.
You see the Additional Options dialog box.

  15. Click Set Fund Approval Status As to determine the approval status for the funds. Options include:
    - Preliminary. Allows you to overwrite data rows with a new Submit process.
    - Final. Protects data from being accidentally overwritten.
    - Other Statuses. Select another Status type if you have added them. See Manage Mart Data Status for additional information.

When you copy a Selective Build schedule, all fields from the original schedule are copied into the new schedule.
