Access Data Mart

This section describes how to access Data Mart and use Data Mart's user interface. After reading through this section, you should have a good understanding of the major components of Data Mart's user interface and know how to use these elements to build, view, and maintain data in your Mart.

To access Eagle Data Mart:

  1. From any Eagle window, click the Eagle Navigator button to access the Eagle Navigator.

  2. Enter Reporting Center in the Start Search text box and click the Reporting Center link.
    You see the Reporting Center opens with the Reporting Tools menu.

  3. From the left navigation, under Reporting Tools menu, select Datamart > Manage Marts > Data Mart.
    Otherwise, from the left navigation, select Data Management Reports > Data Mart.

 Understand Manage Mart Window

The Manage Mart window allows you to perform a number of tasks, such as adding, editing, deleting, submitting, and scheduling models. The following table lists the options available in the Manage Mart window.

Data Mart Instances

If you are working with multiple Data Marts, select the mart you want to configure and work with from the dropdown. The last selected schema is displayed by default.

Manage Data Marts

Click this link to enter name and location information used to register the presence of each schema set up by your DBA. You do not have to enter any information for the default instance, the DATAMART schema in the Eagle warehouse that exists even if you are not using multiple marts. The same is true for EAGLEMART.

Manage Database Connections

Click this link to record connection information for each separate database housing your mart instances. You do not have to enter any information for the default connection to the Eagle warehouse.

Copy Model between Marts

Select to quickly and easily copy models and selected model fields from one Mart instance to another within the same environment.

Add Group Level Model

Creates a Group model.

Add Performance Group Level Model

Creates a Performance Group Level Model.

View Model

Allows you to view model.

Edit Model

Edits a Group, Fund Summary, and Detail model.

Delete Group Level Model

Deletes a Group model.

Refresh

Updates Data Mart's configuration information.

Submit

Populates the tables in a Data Mart schema using the settings defined in your models.

Schedules

Populates Data Mart with data on a regularly scheduled basis.

Extensions

Breaks fund level and detail level tables into multiple physical tables.

Snapshots

Supports more than one source rule in your data. Also, allows you to save the state of your data more than once per day.

Migration

Migrates configuration information to a destination environment.

Administration

Provides access to the following options:

  • Configure. Displays the Data Mart Configuration dialog box, which allows you to configure the Data Mart environment.

  • Archive Settings. Assigns custom names to your archive tables. You can also change the default name of the archive table for the Fund Master table, which is the directory of all Data Mart tables.

  • Diagnostics. Confirms the set-up of Data Mart after configuring the Data Mart environment.

  • Column Type Diagnostics. Select to create a script the database administrator can use to convert table columns in a mart with a Wide Character underlying field attribute to the nvarchar data type required for non-English reporting.

  • Audit. Displays changes you have made to the fields in your model.

  • Server Log. Displays the PACE Application Server Logs, which provide information about the Application Server on which Data Mart processes are executed.

Execution Log

Click to display the Execution Log window and view Execution Logs.

View Mart Data

Click to display the View Mart Data window and view Data Mart tables.

Visual Settings

Right-click a model to display the Customize Visual Settings dialog box, which allows you to customize windows and dialog boxes and define how data in grids is displayed.
