Change Accounts

In the Change Account panel, you can edit a custom ledger account manually for a custom COA. A custom Chart of Accounts (COA) contains accounts that you customized. You can edit accounts on the custom COA either manually or automatically, and can change the following data:

  • Custom account number

  • Custom account description

  • Sub group

  • G/L restriction indicator

Do not change existing core accounts. Doing so can create incorrect reporting results. If you do not find appropriate accounts in the core COA to use for mapping custom accounts, contact your Eagle representative.

To change a custom account manually:

  1. In Accounting Center, in the left navigation pane, click Setup > Ledger > Chart of Accounts > Change Account.
You see the Change Account panel.

  2. In the Chart of Account Name field, select the name of the custom COA with accounts you want to change.
    For example, STAR.

  3. In the Query Ledger Accounts by field, specify whether to identify the accounts by account number, description, or both. Options include:
    - Ledger account number. Lists the account you select in the Ledger Account Number field.
    - Ledger account description. Lists the account you select in the Ledger Account Description field.
    - All. Default. Lists all accounts for the selected custom COA.

  4. If you selected a value other than All, in the Chart of Account G/L Number and Chart of Account G/L Description fields, select the number or description for the account you want to change.

  5. Click Submit.
You see the accounts that met your criteria in the Show All tab.

  6. Select the check box for the row for each ledger account you want to edit so that a check mark appears at the left, and click Change Custom G/L Account.
You see a row for each ledger account you selected.

  7. Click the row for each ledger account you want to edit, and change the values you want to update.
You can change the following field values:
    - Custom COA Account Number
    - Custom COA Account Description
    - Custom COA Sub Group
    - G/L Account Restrict Indicator

  8. Click Submit.

After you edit a custom account, you can use the Ledger Item Editor to add or edit the conversion and non-conversion accounts used in the ledger profiles. This enables the reports that are associated with these profiles to use these accounts in calculations and/or display them in the reports.
