Edit FAH Test Rules for Approval Levels

In the Edit Tests workspace, you can edit or change the edit test rules you use to reflect approval levels in the fund approval hierarchy. For static rules, you can identify the highest approval level required for a specific edit test. For tolerated related edit tests, you can define tolerance levels at one or more approval levels. For example, a simple check such as a duplicate trade has no variables to compare that require tolerance levels. A check for NAV impact can have acceptable tolerance levels that are different for each Eagle client, so those rules are user-defined and have variables to suit a client's needs. 

You can also assign an error severity as a warning (LOW) or error (HIGH) at the test rule level. Error severity is based on FAH or Core. Because Core does not have multiple levels, but only one level, there is no need to raise the edit as this level or that level, so the options are HIGH or LOW. Selected severity at the edit test rule level overrides the Error Dictionary setting. If you want an edit to raise as HIGH but its default is LOW, you can change the rule's Error Severity setting to customize it to raise as HIGH. 

Edit the Approval Level for a Static Test Rule

If you use the fund approval hierarchy, you can modify an edit test with static rules to set the role level by entering a 1 in the column that corresponds to the highest required level of review. For an example, see Understand Approval Levels in Static FAH Edit Tests. 

To edit the approval level for a static edit test rule:

1. In Control Center, in the left navigation pane, click Edit Tests > Edit Tests. 
   You see the Edit Tests workspace. 

2. Click the row of the edit test with rules you want to edit.
   You select an edit test with an Edit Test Category value of Non-Core-FAH. For example, you select the Edit transaction duplicate trade test.

3. On the Home tab, in the Manage group, click Show Rules. 
   In the Rules page, you see a grid that lists the rules for the selected edit test.

4. Identify the highest level of approval currently defined for the rule.
   The value of 1 in the Argument 2 For Role 1, Argument 2 For Role 2, Argument 2 For Role 3, or Argument 2 For Role 4 column identifies the approval role for the highest level of approval required.

5. Specify a value of 1 in the column that corresponds to the highest approval level needed for the fund approval hierarchy.
   You can remove the existing value of 1 defined at a lower approval level so that the rule indicates only the highest level needed.

6. If you want to define the error severity at the edit test level to reflect available approval levels, click the Error Severity column, and select a different value for the row.
   You can also right-click the row and select Set Error Severity to display a matrix with values you can click. If you do not specify a value, the edit test uses the default error severity from the error dictionary.
   Options include:
   - <None>. The edit test uses the default error severity from the error dictionary. 
   - HIGH. Specifies an error (HIGH) at the edit test level. High applies to all approval role levels, including 1, 2, 3, 4.  
   - HIGH2. Specifies an error (HIGH) at the edit test level. High applies to approval role levels 2, 3, 4. Low applies to approval role level 1.
   - HIGH3. Specifies an error (HIGH) at the edit test level. High applies to approval role levels 3, 4. Low applies to approval role level 1, 2.
   - HIGH4. Specifies an error (HIGH) at the edit test level. High applies to approval role level 4. Low applies to approval role level 1, 2, 3.
   - LOW. Specifies a warning (LOW) at the edit test level. Low applies to all approval role levels, including 1, 2, 3, 4. 

7. Complete any additional changes you want to make.

8. On the Home tab, in the Manage group, click Save. 

Edit Tolerance Related Test Rules

If you use the fund approval hierarchy, you can modify an edit test with dynamic, tolerance related, rules to set up tolerance values at one or more approval role levels that require business review. For examples, see Understand Approval Levels in Static FAH Edit Tests. You can also assign an error severity as a warning (LOW) or error (HIGH) at the individual error tolerance level. To edit the approval level for tolerance related edit test rules:

1. In Control Center, in the left navigation pane, click Edit Tests > Edit Tests. 
   You see the Edit Tests workspace. 

2. Click the row of the edit test with rules you want to edit.
   You select an edit test with an Edit Test Category value of Non-Core-FAH. For example, you select the Edit trade date vs settlement date tolerance test.

3. On the Home tab, in the Manage group, click Show Rules. 
   In the Rules page, you see a grid that lists the rules for the selected edit test.

4. Identify the tolerance values currently defined for the rules.
   Tolerance values can appear in the Argument 2 For Role 1, Argument 2 For Role 2, Argument 2 For Role 3, and Argument 2 For Role 4 columns.

5. Specify a tolerance value of 1 in the column that corresponds to each approval level in the fund approval hierarchy that requires business review.
   You must specify tolerance values for all approver role levels that participate in the edit test.

6. If you want to define the error severity at the edit test level for individual rows to reflect available approval levels, click the Error Severity column, and select a different value for the row.
   You can also right-click the row and select Set Error Severity to display a matrix that describes the options you can click. If you do not specify a value, the edit test uses the default error severity from the error dictionary.
   Options include:
   - <None>. The edit test uses the default error severity from the error dictionary.  
   - HIGH. Specifies an error (HIGH) at the edit test level. High applies to all approval role levels, including 1, 2, 3, 4. 
   - HIGH2. Specifies an error (HIGH) at the edit test level. High applies to approval role levels 2, 3, 4. Low applies to approval role level 1.
   - HIGH3. Specifies an error (HIGH) at the edit test level. High applies to approval role levels 3, 4. Low applies to approval role level 1, 2.
   - HIGH4. Specifies an error (HIGH) at the edit test level. High applies to approval role level 4. Low applies to approval role level 1, 2, 3.
   - LOW. Specifies a warning (LOW) at the edit test level. Low applies to all approval role levels, including 1, 2, 3, 4. 

7. Complete any additional changes you want to make.

8. On the Home tab, in the Manage group, click Save.
