Set Up Ledger Accounts for Use with Ledger Granularity
When you use ledger granularity with Custom Granularity, you can use the Breakout by Ledger Granularity (tag 16283) option in Ledger Item Editor to indicate that you use a ledger account with ledger granularity. The Breakout by Ledger Granularity option allows the system to group core ledger accounts by ledger account ranges for the Control Center NAV Recon edit test and additionally provide the flexibility to break out ledger granularity accounts for reporting.
You can assign this option at the individual ledger account level, that is, for a single line item within a ledger profile, or at the ledger profile level to apply the option to all ledger accounts associated with that profile.
Break Out All Ledger Accounts in a Ledger Profile for Ledger Granularity
In the Ledger Item Editor workspace, if you use Custom Granularity, you can use the Breakout by Ledger Granularity option to indicate whether you use all ledger accounts associated with a ledger profile with ledger granularity.
To break out all ledger accounts in a ledger profile for ledger granularity:Â
In Accounting Center, in the left navigation pane, click Setup > Ledger > Ledger Profiles > Ledger Item Editor.
You see the Ledger Item Editor workspace.In the grid, click the ledger profile you want to change, and then click Edit Profile.
On the Ledger Item Editor tab, in the Profiles group, click Profile Properties.
You see the Ledger Profile Properties dialog window. By default, the Breakout by Ledger Granularity profile property value is blank.Double-click the Breakout by Ledger Granularity profile property value, and select Yes.
If you use Custom Granularity with the profile, choose Yes to enable the system to group ledger accounts by ledger account ranges for the Control Center NAV Recon edit test and provide the flexibility to break out ledger granularity accounts for reporting. Otherwise, you can select a blank or No value if you do not use Custom Granularity with the profile.Click OK.
Click Save Profile to save your changes.
NOTE:Â Â You need to restart the engines for the environment in order for the system to apply this setting.
Break Out a Ledger Account for Ledger Granularity
In the Ledger Item Editor workspace, if you use Custom Granularity, you can use the Breakout by Ledger Granularity option to indicate that you use an individual ledger account, that is, a line item within a ledger profile, with ledger granularity.Â
To break out a ledger account for ledger granularity:Â
In Accounting Center, in the left navigation pane, click Setup > Ledger > Ledger Profiles > Ledger Item Editor.
You see the Ledger Item Editor workspace.In the grid, select the ledger profile you want to update, and then click Edit Profile.Â
Select the row for the ledger account, or line item, that you want to update.Â
Click the Breakout By Ledger Granularity column value, and select a value for the ledger account.Â
Options include:
- Yes. If you use Custom Granularity, the system breaks out the ledger account for ledger granularity. This option allows the system to group ledger accounts by ledger account ranges for the Control Center NAV Recon edit test and provides the flexibility to break out ledger granularity accounts for reporting.Â
- No. Default. If you use Custom Granularity, the system does not break out the ledger account for ledger granularity.ÂÂ Click Save Profile to save your changes.
NOTE:Â Â You need to restart the engines for the environment in order for the system to apply this change. Profile changes need a system reboot to take effect.
