Manage Granularity Pools

A granularity pool determines the attribute groupings that are available for a ledger granularity rule that uses custom granularity. An attribute grouping is comprised of a set of attributes values for security types, market sector descriptions, or issue countries that require processing in the same manner for a ledger granularity rule. You can assign a granularity pool to multiple ledger granularity rules.

Add Granularity Pools and Attribute Groupings

In the Add Granularity Pool/Attribute Grouping panel, you can add or update a granularity pool, can add or update attribute groupings for a granularity pool, and can add attribute values to attribute groupings. You can specify attribute values for security types, market sector descriptions, and issue countries.

To add a granularity pool/attribute grouping:

  1. Do one of the following:
    - In Portfolio Data Center, in the left navigation pane, click Portfolio Desk > Accounting Portfolio Rules > Ledger Granularity> Add Granularity Pool/Attribute Grouping.
    - In Accounting Center, in the left navigation pane, click Setup > Portfolio Rules > Ledger Granularity > Add Granularity Pool/Attribute Grouping.
You see the Add Granularity Pool/Attribute Grouping panel.

  2. Complete the options in the Add Granularity Pool/Attribute Grouping panel.

  3. Click Submit.
The attribute values you add become effective in the granularity pool/attribute grouping on the current date.

Add Attribute Grouping for

7102

Indicates whether you are adding a new attribute grouping or maintaining an existing attribute grouping. You can assign the same attribute grouping to more than one granularity pool. Options include:

  • New Attribute Grouping. Allows you to add an attribute grouping for the selected pool. When you set the New or Existing Granularity Pool field to a value of New Granularity Pool, this field displays a value of New Attribute Grouping by default. If you are adding a new granularity pool, select this option.

  • Existing Attribute Grouping. Allows you to update an existing attribute grouping for the selected pool.

Attribute Group Name

11478

Specifies the name of the attribute grouping that you are adding to the selected granularity pool. You cannot assign the same attribute grouping to more than one granularity pool. This field appears only if you set the Add Attribute Grouping for field to a value of New Attribute Grouping.

Attribute Type

7002

Specifies the attribute type associated with the selected granularity pool/attribute grouping. You can select a value when you add a new attribute grouping. Otherwise, this field displays the attribute type for the selected attribute grouping. Options include:
