About Foreign Code Derivation for a Security
In the Edit Security Insurance Information panel, when you maintain the SMF insurance-related information and elections, you can specify a value for the Foreign Type field, preempting derivation by the ISTAR Refresh/Valuation process.
The following table illustrates the ISTAR Refresh/Valuation derivation for foreign codes, based on the values on the security for Issue Country, Country of Incorporation, and Asset Currency.
Foreign Code | Country of Incorporation – from Issuer (tag 2291) | Country of Issue – from Security (tag 10193) | Asset Currency – from Security (tag 85) |
---|---|---|---|
A | CA | CA | USD |
B | FX | FX | Non-USD |
C | FX | US | USD |
D | FX | FX | USD |
"FX" designates a country other than the United States (US) or Canada (CA). If one of the above combinations is not met exactly, no Foreign Code is assigned automatically.
