Manage LEI Information for Issuers

You can use legal entity identifiers (LEIs) for issuers to track parties to financial transactions.

Add LEI Information for an Issuer

In the Add Issuer Information panel and the Change Issuer Information panel, you can manage the Legal Entity Identifier (LEI) code assignment and LEI supporting details for an issuer.

To add LEI information when you add an issuer:

  1. From any Eagle window, click the Eagle Navigator button to access the Eagle Navigator.
  2. Enter Add Issuer Information in the Start Search text box.
  3. Click the Add Issuer Information link to access the panel. 
    You see the Add Issuer Information panel.
  4. Complete the options in the Add Issuer Information panel.
  5. Click Submit.
  6. Close the Add Issuer Information bottom tab.

The following are the key options required to add LEI information for the issuer.

Add Issuer Information Options

  • Legal Entity Identifier (LEI) (tag 5089). Specifies the legal entity identifier (LEI) that identifies the issuer as a financial party. When you enter an LEI value, the panel unhides the Legal Entity Identifier Details section for data entry. If the LEI already exists, the LEI details are displayed.

Legal Entity Identifier Details Options

  • Legal Name (tag 5090). Specifies the legal name of the issuer, as the financial party registered with the LEI.
  • Entity Status (tag 5091). Specifies the status of the issuer. For example: ACTIVE and INACTIVE.
  • Legal Form (tag 5092). Specifies the legal form of the issuer, as the financial party registered with the LEI. For example, CORPORATION.
  • Assigned Date (tag 5093). Specifies the date when the LEI was assigned.
  • Last Update Date (tag 5094). Specifies the date when the LEI information was last updated.
  • Disabled Date (tag 5095). Specifies the date when the LEI information was disabled.
  • Record State (tag 5096). Specifies the record state for the issuer's LEI. The record state indicates the current process status of the CFTC Interim Compliant Identifier (CICI) record. For example, UNDER_REVIEW, DUPLICATE, CONFLICTING_SOURCES, VALIDATED, INADEQUATE_RESOURCES, and PENDING_REMOVAL.
  • Certification State (tag 5097). Specifies the certification state used to register the issuer's LEI. For example, CERTIFIED, NOT_CERTIFIED, and STALE.
  • Street (tag 5098). Specifies the street address used to register the issuer's LEI.
  • City (tag 5099). Specifies the city used to register the issuer's LEI.
  • State (tag 5100). Specifies the state code used to register the issuer's LEI.
  • ZIP (tag 5180). Specifies the ZIP code used to register the issuer's LEI.
  • Country Code (tag 5181). Specifies the country code used to register the issuer's LEI.

View LEI Information for a Security's Issuer

You can view the Legal Entity Identifier (LEI) information when the issuer is defined for the security. You can add and change security information using the following security panels:

  • Add and Change a Cap/Floor panels
  • Add and Change a Credit Default Swap panels
  • Add and Change a Credit Index Swap panels
  • Add and Change an Equity Security panels
  • Add and Change a Future Contract panels
  • Add and Change a London Metal Exchange Future Contract panels
  • Add and Change a Long Term Debt Instrument panels
  • Add and Change a Mortgage Backed Security (MBS) panels
  • Add and Change an Option Contract panels
  • Add and Change a Right/Warrant panels
  • Add and Change a Short Term Debt Instrument panels
  • Add and Change a Term Loan panels
  • Mutual Fund Setup panel

You can also access these security panels and view the LEI information via the Issue Viewer and the Security Reference Manager (SRM).

To update security information and view LEI details via the Issuer Viewer:

  1. From any Eagle window, click the Eagle Navigator button to access the Eagle Navigator.
  2. Enter Issue Viewer in the Start Search text box.
  3. Click the Issue Viewer link to access the tool.
    You see the Issues Query window.
  4. Enter the query parameters and click Search.
    You see a list of security records that meet your selection criteria in the Query Result window.
  5. Double click the security you wish to change.
    You see the security panel for the security with the issuer's LEI code and LEI details displayed in the Issuer Information section.

To update security information and view LEI details via the Security Reference Manager:

  1. From any Eagle window, click the Eagle Navigator button to access the Eagle Navigator.
  2. Enter Security Reference Manager in the Start Search text box.
  3. Click the Security Reference Manager link to access the tool.
    You see the Query Securities window.
  4. Complete the fields on the Query Securities window.
    For example, select Ticker from the Xref Type field. Then, enter the ticker symbol in the Xref ID field.
  5. Click Search.
    You see the security that meets the search criteria.
  6. Double click the security you wish to change.
    You see the security panel for the security with the issuer's LEI code and LEI details displayed in the Issuer Information section.
