Set Configuration Options for Composite Monitor Reports

The Composite Monitor's Configuration dialog box lets you configure options that certain Composite Monitor reports use to retrieve the appropriate total level data for portfolios and/or composites from the Holdings and Performance tables. The options that you configure apply to all Composite Monitor reports, and are user-specific, that is, they apply only to the user who defines those settings.

This section assumes you previously performed all initial setup tasks related to the Composite Manager, as described in GIPS Composite Management Configuration.

To set up the configuration options for Composite Monitor reports:

  1. Open the Composite Monitor.

  2. In the toolbar, click the Configure link.

Work with Composite Monitor Reports

This section describes how to run a Composite Monitor report and work with the report results. This information applies to all Composite Monitor reports.

To view a Composite Monitor report:

  1. Open the Composite Monitor, as described in Opening the Composite Monitor.

  2. In the Reports section, click the name of the report you want to view.
The Report Parameters for the selected report appear.

  3. In the Report Parameters area, review the displayed values and make any changes to select the appropriate data.
See About Composite Monitor Report Parameters for the date ranges you can select and detailed information about report parameters used for individual reports.

  4. Click Submit to run the report.
    The report results appear.

  5. After you run a report, you can select the links available from the toolbar at the top of the home page window to manage report results and navigate to other windows.
    The links are described below.
Home. Allows you to navigate back to the Composite Monitor home page and run a different report. You can use this option in conjunction with the Window option.
Resubmit. Allows you to modify the report parameters on the fly and view the results. After you select this link, you can change the values displayed in the Report Parameters dialog box and click OK to regenerate the report results. Note that the Composite Monitor does not save any report parameters changes you make in order to resubmit a report. You must select the Save option in order to save such changes.
Refresh. Allows you to update the results to show the latest data for the currently displayed report.
Save. Allows you to retain the report parameters that you modified during the Resubmit process.
Export. Allows you to view and format the report results as a file. The export process automatically reformats the data to facilitate efficient manual sorting. For example, the export process automatically copies the Composite ID and Composite Name for each constituent record so you can sort on those columns without any manipulation to the output. Export optimization allows you to execute a single export for large volume data. The Export option is also available from the shortcut menu when you right-click a report row.
Print. Allows you to produce hard copy versions of the report results.
Window. Allows you to manage report views. For more information, see Opening the Composite Monitor.
Close. Allows you to close the current report results and return to the Composite Monitor home page.

  6. You can also perform the following actions as you view the report:
Paging. You can click the arrow buttons at the top of the report to move from page to page of results. These buttons help you navigate through high volume reports.
Sort Data within a Column. You can click any column heading to sort the data in that column in ascending or descending order.
Lock Report Column. You can right-click any column cell and select Lock Column from the shortcut menu to lock that column in position, so the column remains visible when you scroll to view data at the far right of the report. The system displays a heavy line to the right of the column you locked. To remove the lock, repeat this process and select Unlock Column from the shortcut menu.
View Report Parameters. You can right-click any cell and select Show Report Parameters from the shortcut menu to display the Report Parameters dialog box with the report parameters used to submit the report.
Expand and Collapse Rows. Specific reports allow you to click rows for entities to expand and collapse rows for related data, such as constituent portfolios.
