About the Snapshots

The Metadata Manager allows you to create a snapshot of your metadata at any point in time and save it to a file. A snapshot is a "picture" of the metadata from a specific environment taken at a specific time and may include all metadata types, or only a selected metadata. The snapshot data is encrypted using the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES). 

Snapshots may be used for versioning and for tracking metadata history. You can compare snapshots to view differences in metadata between environments, or various points in time. You can also compare the metadata in your environment to Eagle's Gold snapshot. The Eagle Gold snapshot contains Eagle's core metadata for the current release.

After you have created a metadata snapshot, you can save it to a file, import this file into the browser to view, or use it to compare to another snapshot.

In the Metadata Manager, you can do the following:

• Create new snapshots or overwrite existing snapshots.

• Manage existing snapshots.

• Search across snapshots.

• Run snapshot comparison reports to view any differences, including comparisons to the Eagle's Gold snapshot.

• View and export snapshot history.
