Run PACE Reporting Analysis Reports

In the Metadata Manager, you can generate PACE Reporting analysis reports and retrieve the PACE Reporting metadata in an Excel spreadsheet. These reports include Datamart Usage, Field Attribute Sources, Metadata Usage, and Orphan & Duplicate reports. You can run the Datamart Usage and Field Attribute Sources reports for all, or selected Datamarts and sources, respectively.

Run the Datamart Usage Report

The Datamart Usage report retrieves Datamart models and their corresponding field attributes and the associated underlying database columns. This report also contains the underlying columns used by all field attributes (nested field attributes). A nested field attribute is an attribute used by another field attribute such as in a Detail Calculation.

This report includes the following metadata:

  • Datamart Field Attributes. Retrieves the names of all or selected Datamarts and the Datamart Model names within the Datamarts. It also retrieves the field attributes used in the Models, as well as the Field Attribute Type, Field Attribute SubType, Custom Field Formula, Field Attribute ID, and the underlying database column of the field attribute.

  • Nested Field Attributes. Retrieves the names of the nested field attribute and Field Attribute Types and SubType, and the underlying database column.

Run the Datamart Usage Report for all Datamarts

To run the Datamart Usage – All report:

  1. From any Metadata Manager window, click Analysis, select PACE Reports and click Datamart Usage – All.
    You see the Save Analysis Results dialog box that allows you to select a folder and file name where the Excel spreadsheet with the analysis data will be stored.

  2. Enter the folder and file name for the Excel file.

  3. Click Save.
    You see the Analysis Results window with the Summary view as the default.

  4. Click the Datamart Field Attributes tab, or the Nested Field Attributes tab to view the details.

  5. To access the actual Excel file, click Open File.

Run the Datamart Usage Report for Selected Datamarts

To run the Datamart Usage – Selected report:

  1. From any Metadata Manager window, click Types in the navigation path, or click the Types bottom tab to display types in the workspace.

  2. In the left navigation, under Information Delivery, click Datamart and double click to select the Datamart type in the workspace.
    You see the item list for the type you selected.

  3. Click to select a specific datamart. To select several rows, press and hold the CTRL key.

  4. Click Analysis, select PACE Reports and select Datamart Usage – Selected.
    You see the Save Analysis Results dialog box that allows you to select a folder and file name where the Excel spreadsheet with the analysis data will be stored.

  5. Enter the folder and file name for the Excel file.

  6. Click Save.
    You see the Analysis Results window with the Summary view as the default.

  7. Click the Datamart Field Attributes tab or the Nested Field Attributes tab to view the details.

  8. To access the actual Excel file, click Open File.

Run the Field Attribute Sources Report

The Field Attribute Sources report retrieves all field attributes and their corresponding sources for all OLAP Report Profiles. This report also, determines the source from the source rule. If the source is EaglePACE, this report retrieves the sources used in the PACE Composite Security Rules.
This report includes the following metadata:

  • Field Attribute Sources. Names of all or selected Report Profiles, their corresponding report rules, field attributes and underlying columns used, as well as the Field Attribute Type and SubType, Custom Field Formula, Field Attribute ID, Field Attribute Name, and Field Attribute Column ID. This report also includes the source rule source as specified in the source rule, only the first source in the rule hierarchy is used. The source hierarchy is also included.

  • Database Column. Database column used by the field attribute and the column type and column description.

  • PACE Composite Security Rule. If the source in the source rule is EaglePACE, a PACE Composite Security Rule is used. This report also includes the PACE Composite Security Rule formula and the PACE Composite Security Rule source.

Run the Field Attribute Sources Report for All Sources

To run the Field Attribute Sources – All report:

  1. From any Metadata Manager window, click Analysis, select PACE Reports and click Field Attribute Sources – All.
    You see the Save Analysis Results dialog box that allows you to select a folder and file name where the Excel spreadsheet with the analysis data will be stored.

  2. Enter the folder and file name for the Excel file.

  3. Click Save.
    This report may take a few minutes to complete. You see the Analysis Results window with the Summary view as the default.

  4. Click the Field Attribute Sources tab to view the details.

  5. To access the actual Excel file, click Open File.

Run the Field Attribute Sources Report for Selected Sources

To run the Field Attribute Sources – Selected report:

  1. From any Metadata Manager window, click Types in the navigation path, or click the Types bottom tab to display types in the workspace.

  2. In the left navigation, under Information Delivery, click OLAP Reporting and double click to select the Report Profile type in the workspace.
    You see the item list for the type you selected.

  3. Click to select a specific report profile. To select several rows, press and hold the CTRL key.

  4. Click Analysis, select PACE Reports and click Field Attribute Sources – Selected.
    You see the Save Analysis Results dialog box that allows you to select a folder and file name where the Excel spreadsheet with the analysis data will be stored.

  5. Enter the folder and file name for the Excel file.

  6. Click Save.
    You see the Analysis Results window with the Summary view as the default.

  7. Click the Field Attribute Sources tab to view the details.

  8. To access the actual Excel file, click Open File.

Run the Metadata Usage Report

The Metadata Usage report retrieves the full inventory of PACE Reporting metadata.
This report includes the following metadata:

  • PACE Reporting. Full PACE Reporting inventory that includes all related PACE Reporting metadata types, from the Report Profiles down to Field Attributes.

  • FA Usage by Report Profiles. All field attributes and columns used by the Report Profiles, including nested field attributes.

  • FAs that contain FAs. All field attributes that contain other field attributes (nested field attributes). For example, Detail Calcs, Rollup Fields, etc.

  • Advanced Report Rule Options. All Advanced Report Rule options along with the related Report Profiles.

  • Nested FA usage by Rpt Prfls. All nested field attributes used by Report Profiles.

  • All FAs with column. All field attributes and nested field attributes, whether associated with a report or not, and their underlying database column.

To run the Metadata Usage report:

  1. From any Metadata Manager window, click Analysis, select PACE Reports and click Metadata Usage.
    You see the Save Analysis Results dialog box that allows you to select a folder and file name where the Excel spreadsheet with the analysis data will be stored.

  2. Enter the folder and file name for the Excel file.

  3. Click Save.
    You see the Analysis Results window with the Summary view as the default.

  4. Click the PACE Reporting, FA Usage by Report Profiles, FAs that Contain FAs, Advanced Report Rules Options, Nested FA usage by Rpt Prfls, or the All FAs with column tabs to view the details.

  5. To access the actual Excel file, click Open File.

Run the Orphan & Duplicate Report

This report retrieves orphan PACE Reporting metadata and the field attributes that use the same underlying database columns. 
This report includes the following metadata:

  • FAs using same column. All field attributes that use the same underlying database column.

  • Orphan Field Attributes. Any field attribute that does not have a parent Field Rule, and is not part of (child of) a nested field attribute.

  • Orphan Report Rules. Any Report Rule that does not have a parent Report Profile, and is not an Advanced Report rule.

  • Orphan Field Rules. Any Field Rule that does not have a parent Report Rule or a parent Report Profile.

To run the Orphan & Duplicate report:

  1. From any Metadata Manager window, click Analysis, select PACE Reports and click Orphan & Duplicate.
    You see the Save Analysis Results dialog box that allows you to select a folder and file name where the Excel spreadsheet with the analysis data will be stored.

  2. Enter the folder and file name for the Excel file.

  3. Click Save.
    You see the Analysis Results window with the Summary view as the default.

  4. Click the FA using same column, Orphan Field Attributes, Orphan Report Rules, or Orphan Field Rules tabs to view the details.

  5. To access the actual Excel file, click Open File.
