Manage Type Attributes

In the Metadata Manager, type attributes provide descriptive information about a type. You can use the type attributes to group types in the left navigation. You can view, edit, add, or delete type attributes.

View Type Attributes

To view all available type attributes:

  1. From any Metadata Manager window, click Types in the navigation path, or click the Types bottom tab to display types in the workspace.

  2. Click Metadata and double click Type Attributes.
    You see the attributes for all the supported types.

  3. To return to the Types window, click the Types bottom tab.

Edit a Type Attribute

To edit a type attribute:

  1. From any Metadata Manager window, click Types in the navigation path, or click the Types bottom tab to display types in the workspace.

  2. Click Metadata and double click Type Attributes.
    You see the attributes for all the supported types.

  3. Click the attribute you wish to edit, click Metadata, click the Type Attributes drop down and select Edit.

  4. In the Attribute name dialog box, make the appropriate changes.

  5. Click the white and green check mark to save your changes.

  6. Click Close to return to the Types window.

Add a Type Attribute

To add a new type attribute:

  1. From any Metadata Manager window, click Types in the navigation path, or click the Types bottom tab to display types in the workspace.

  2. Click Metadata and double click the Type Attributes.
    You see the attributes for all the supported types.

  3. Click Metadata, click the Type Attributes drop down and select Create.
    You see the Attribute name dialog box.

  4. Enter the name of the new attribute.

  5. Click the white and green check mark to save your changes.

  6. Click Close to return to the Types window.

Delete a Type Attribute

To delete an existing type attribute:

  1. From any Metadata Manager window, click Types in the navigation path, or click the Types bottom tab to display types in the workspace.

  2. Click Metadata and double click Type Attributes.
    You see the attributes for the supported types.

  3. Click the attribute to be deleted, click Metadata, click the Type Attributes drop down and select Delete. To select several rows, press and hold the CTRL key.
    You see the Delete Attribute dialog box.

  4. Click Yes to delete the attribute you selected. Click No to keep the attribute.

  5. Click Close to return to the Types window.
