Run Snapshots Searches

In the Metadata Manager, you can run the simple, orphan, and usage searches comparing the metadata in the current snapshot to the metadata in another snapshot.

The following search criteria are used by the snapshot search:

• Exists. Returns metadata that exists in both the current snapshot and the comparison snapshot.
• Does not exist. Returns metadata that exists only in the current snapshot.
• Is different. Returns metadata that exists in both the current snapshot and the comparison snapshot, but the metadata is different in the comparison snapshot by a specific attribute.

To run simple, orphan, or usage searches across snapshots:

1. From any Metadata Manager window, click the double arrow next to the Search button to access the Search dialog box.
2. In the Search dialog box, click the Simple, Orphan, or Usage tab.
3. Click the Search for drop down and select a type.
4. Enter the From Type criteria.
5. Select the appropriate search criteria.
6. For the usage search, click the second Search for drop down, select a type, and enter the Related Type criteria.
7. Click to check the Compare Mode check box.
8. Click which drop down and select Exists, Does not exist, or Is different search criteria.
9. Click in snapshot drop down and select the comparison snapshot.
10. If you selected Is different, click by drop down and select the attribute.
11. Click the Search button in the lower left corner of the Search dialog box.
    In the Search Results window, you see the items based on the criteria you selected.
12. Click the Path name for any item you wish to view in the Item Detail window.
13. In Item Detail window, click the Attributes, Parents & Children, or Mapping tabs to view the item details.
14. Click the Types bottom tab to return to the Types window.
