Set Up Preferred Shares Distributions

When you process preferred shares for a closed-end fund, you can accrue preferred series distributions. The system calculates the distribution by multiplying the value of the preferred series by the daily distribution rate. You must set up the distribution rates in Eagle Accounting.

Distribution transaction adjustments occur when the system processes the distributions. A distribution transaction adjustment occurs when you process a preferred stock transaction as a continuous issuance or buyback, or when you cancel a buyback or issuance. Because processing preferred shares transactions affects the total value of the preferred shares, the system automatically adjusts the distribution amount to account for the change in the total preferred stock value. You can also make a manual adjustment to the preferred distribution using the Post Distribution Adjustment panel. When you apply an adjustment, you can enter the ex-date, reinvestment date, record date, and pay date to the preferred series record.

For detailed information about maintaining preferred shares distribution rates, posting and canceling preferred distributions, and monitoring preferred shares distributions, see Manage Preferred Shares Distributions.
