Process Considerations in Eagle Accounting

STAR to PACE Direct is designed within the Eagle Accounting's global processing framework. Many issues that affect global processes also affect STAR to PACE Direct processing. Considerations include:

  • Exception processing for prices and FX rates

  • Lot Level versus Position Level processing for cash dividends and coupons

Set Up the Exception Processing Switch for Prices and Rates

The panels used to add or change prices and foreign exchange rates include the Exception Processing Switch field (tag 989). The following figure shows the Exception Processing Switch field in the Add Issue Price panel. You can set this field to Update Market Value in PACE to create a list of prices or foreign exchange rate exceptions.

You can then view the list of the prices or foreign exchange rate exceptions using the List Price or FX Rate Exceptions panel to update the positions and open lots in Eagle PACE. For more information, see List Price or FX Rate Exceptions.

Apply Cash Dividends and Coupons at Lot Level or Position Level

You can use the Cash Div Cash Entitlement Level field, defined at the entity/accounting basis level, to specify whether to apply a cash dividend at the lot level or position level.

You can use the Coupon Cash Entitlement Level field, defined at the entity/accounting basis level, to specify whether to apply a coupon at the lot level or the position level.

These fields are available on the panels where you create and edit entities, master funds, and accounting bases, such as Create/Edit Entity Panel Options. The values for the Cash Div Cash Entitlement Level and Coupon Cash Entitlement Level fields are stored in the ENTITY LEDGER BASIS table. All other events are processed by default at the lot level.

There is an exception to the rule for the average cost method election. Events, such as a Return of Capital, affect the overall cost of the position, making the lots irrelevant from a cost standpoint. The cost adjustments for these events are done at the position level.
