View Cash Activity in the Cash Object

The Cash object displays cash activity from both a traded and a settled perspective. Most trading activity (excluding free Receives/Delivers) results in cash movement that you can validate and use for research.

To view cash activity related to a specific position:

  1. Select the position in the top part of the Query Result window.
  2. Click the Cash tab.
The Cash object tabs are populated with data, if there is related activity available. Tabs containing data are highlighted. See the Cash Object Tabs section.
  3. Click a row to view the entire contents of that row.

Examples - Cash Object

In the following Cash object example, after you select Asset 031162100 and click the Cash tab, there are two cash lots for the selected position.

Once these two trades are settled, the Cash object displays additional rows with a Status column value of SETTLED. As with the Cost object, several tabs display data if there is particular activity available. For example, the Cancel Receipts tab is blank if there are no cancelled receipts for the position.

The following example shows the Cash object with rows that have a status of both TRADED and SETTLED.

The Position Viewer functions differently for CASH securities than it does for other security types.
There is no Cost object data for CASH. For example, when you select the US Dollar position, the Cost object is empty, but the position data in the upper pane displays a TRADED cash balance. See the following figure.

When you select the Cash object for the US Dollar position, there is detail for a single receipt of TRADED Cash for $50,000. See the Receipts tab in the following figure.

For the US Dollar position, the Units column value is comprised of both the $50,000 USD receipt and the SETTLED cash amounts from the two trades. The cash activity for the two trades is shown within the object for the fixed income security (Asset 1733 in this example) as previously described. Only Contribution/Withdrawal/Expense specific activity is displayed as Receipt/Disbursement detail for cash securities within the Cash object.

Upon settlement of the contribution, a SETTLED row is displayed in the Cash object for the US Dollar position. See the following figure.
