Create a New Exceptions Processing Rule

In Automation Center, you can create a new exception processing rule.

To create a new exception processing rule:

  1. In the Automation Desk workspace, in the left navigation pane, click Exceptions.
    You see the Exceptions workspace.

  2. Click Create New and from the drop-down menu, select Processing Rule.
You see the Create New Rule window.

  3. Enter a Rule Name.

  4. In the Rule Type field, select Assignment.
Rule properties will vary based on the rule type selected.

  5. Enter a number between 0-100 in the Run Priority field.
The run priority determines the sequence in which a rule will process, based on comparison to other rules. Rules with higher priority (lower number) will take precedence over those with lower priority (higher number). Rule priority is only a factor when multiple rules (or all) are applied.

  6. Click the Enabled checkbox to apply the rule.
If this flag is disabled, the processing rule cannot be submitted.

  7. In the Assignment Type field, choose who you want to assign the exceptions to from the drop-down list. Options include:
    - User
    - Workflow Group
    - Business Group
The Assign User/Group field will be populated based on your Assignment Type selection.

  8. In the Processing Severity field, assign a severity to the exception. The severity matches the rule conditions you set in the step below.
    - (not specified)
    - 1 (Low Severity)
    - 9 (Below Medium Severity)
    - 10 (Medium Severity)
    - 11 (Above Medium Severity)
    - 20 (High Severity)
    - 30 (Critical Severity)
    - 50 (Commitment Severity)
Severity Level assigns severity to exceptions which match rule conditions. When a rule matches several conditions, the exception should be assigned using the following order: severity_level DESC, priority DESC, and rule_id ASC.
When submitting multiple processing rules at the same time, evaluate severity level first. If there are two or more rules with the same severity, then check run priority level.

  9. Click Build Logic to access Logic Builder and define the rule conditions that must be met for exceptions to be asigned to this user or group.
See Use the Logic Builder .

  10. Click Save.
After the processing rule has been created, you can be submit it manually or schedule it as part of an Accounting Event Manager event. For details on how to schedule a rule, see Schedule a Rule in Automation Center .

If an exception already has an assignment, then rule submission won't reassign it unless you select the Force Resign Exceptions checkbox in the Submit Selected Rule dialog.
