In Eagle Accounting, an entity is another name for a portfolio. It is a collection of investments owned by the same individual, corporation, partnership, or trust. An entity tracks your trade activity and maintains account positions, as well as all income and expenses. Entities that you set up for use with Eagle's accounting solutions require specialized settings that define the desired accounting behavior for each entity. Entities set up for use with Eagle's data management, information delivery, and performance solutions do not require this information.

Portfolio Data Center (PDC) offers pre-built templates called policies that help you create entities. If you need to manually set up accounting entities and policies for accounting entities are not available, you can use entry panels to define the accounting entities, accounting bases, and accounting rules used with Eagle Accounting. These entry panels allow you to set up entities such as portfolios, reporting composites, and entity lists.

The entry panels used to set up and maintain portfolios amd portfolio rules for use with Eagle Accounting are available in both Portfolio Data Center (PDC) and Accounting Center.
