In Eagle's mutual fund accounting solution, master funds are a type of entity designed to track transactions and trades for mutual funds that involve capital stock and NAV processing. The master fund structure allows you to set up multiple share classes. You can add one or more share classes as you set up the fund, or you can add the share classes later. Master funds that you set up for use with Eagle's accounting solutions require specialized settings that identify the desired accounting behavior for each entity. Entities solely set up for use with Eagle's data management, information delivery, and performance solutions do not require this information.
Portfolio Data Center (PDC) offers pre-built templates called policies that help you create entities. If you need to manually set up master funds and policies for master funds are not available, you can use entry panels to create the master funds used with Eagle Accounting.
The entry panels used to set up and maintain entities such as master fund and related rules, for use with Eagle Accounting are available in both Portfolio Data Center (PDC) and Accounting Center.
