Process Windows

Presenting data in a report often involves a combination of multiple data sources that are received and processed by the application at different times of the day, week, and month. These different processing windows impact the demands placed on system resources, as well as interdependencies between processes.

For example, a Portal query from the Data Mart showing performance returns cannot show a day’s returns until after returns are committed to the warehouse and Data Mart is loaded. Complete the following tasks to ensure data is received and processed correctly:

  • Define Data Load schedules.

  • Define dependencies between processes.

  • Understand the impact of multiple geographic locations.

  • Document when and where data is consumed.

  • Define the process for changes to data, for example, Preliminary vs. Final Performance; Backdated Trades.
