In PDC, an entity indicates an investment account or a collection of investment accounts. These accounts and collections can include the following items:

  • Portfolios
  • Mutual Funds
  • Aggregates
  • Composites
  • Benchmarks
  • Custom Benchmarks
  • Static and Dynamic Lists
  • Peer Groups
  • Sleeves

In the Portfolio Desk workspace, you can create entities. The entities provide you with a predefined set of information, which specifies its unique characteristics, relationships, financial data, and vendor data. An entity is identified by entity_id, an 8-character field that represents an account. You need to select a policy to create an entity. Policies are the workflow templates for creating entities.

Depending on the type of policy you select for the entity, you must provide different types of information. By default, the PDC packaged content contains the following entity types:

  • PORT
  • AGG
  • SUB
  • COMP
  • ACOM
  • INDX
  • LIST
  • PEER
  • SLEV
