Search and Release Exceptions

In Portfolio Data Center, you can search and release exceptions as needed.

Search Exceptions

In the Portfolio Desk workspace, you can search for the exceptions that result from failed validations

To search exception:

  1. In Portfolio Data Center, from the left navigation, select Portfolio Desk and click the appropriate entity type.
    You see the Summary workspace with the available list of entities.

  2. Click the View By drop-down list. Options include:
    - All. Displays all the available entities in the Entity Summary pane based on the entity type chosen from the left navigation. Each entity’s exceptions are displayed below in the Exceptions pane.
    - Exceptions. Displays the list of all open exceptions by error message.

  3. If you select the option as All, you see the Entity pane displaying the entities that meet the search criteria in the upper grid and Exceptions pane in the lower grid. When you select (highlight) an entity, the system displays the corresponding exceptions (if available) for the entity in the Exception pane.

  4. If you select the option as Exceptions, then you see the Exception pane appears first in the order.  When you select (highlight) an exception in the Upper grid, the system displays the corresponding entities having those exceptions in the Entity pane.

  5. Provide the appropriate search criteria and then click Search.
    You see the list of entities or exceptions as per the defined search criteria.

Release Exceptions

In Portfolio Data Center, the Release Exception option allows you to resolve an exception on an entity without making any changes to it. This action essentially bypasses any validation criteria and removes the pending exception from the entity.

To release an exception via All search:

  1. In Portfolio Data Center, from the left navigation, select Portfolio Desk and click the appropriate entity type.
    You see the Summary workspace with the available list of entities.

  2. Click the View By drop-down list and select All.

  3. Provide the appropriate search criteria and then click Search.
    You see the Entity pane displaying the entities that meet the search criteria in the upper grid and Exceptions pane in the lower grid. When you highlight an entity, the system displays the corresponding exceptions (if available) for the entity in the Exception pane.

  4. Select the entity you want to resolve from the Entity pane.
    You see the system list the associated exceptions for the selected entity in the Exceptions pane.

Case 1: To release an exception associated with an entity

  1. On the Home tab, in the Actions group, click Release Exception. Or right-click and select Release Exception.
    You see the Release Exception dialog box.

  2. The Begin Date defaults to the entity’s most current history effective date and is read-only.

  3. Click the End Date to specify a future date range starting from the most recent history effective date to any future date.

  4.  

    1. The system does not allow you to resolve a Release Exception for past history dates. In order to resolve these exceptions, you must open the Edit Entity details dialog box and create Overrides for the field value and appropriate date range to resolve the Exception.

    2. In the case of current and future release exceptions, the system allows you to leave the field value ‘as-is’ without performing a field override.

  5. In the Comment box, type a comment about the exception release, if needed.

  6. Click the Reason Code list to select the type of reason for the exception release. Core options include:
    - File based override
    - Incorrect file
    - Incorrect manual entry
    - Manager request

  7. Click Save to release the exception.
    You see the system has removed the released exception from the Exceptions pane.

Case 2: To release more than one exception associated with an entity.

  1. Right-click on the entity and select Release Exceptions.
    You see the Bulk Updates - Exceptions dialog box with the list of available exceptions for the selected entity.

  2. In the Date box, select a specific date to filter exceptions only as of a specific date.
    You see the date defaults to current date and returns all the open/unresolved exceptions.

  3. Click Apply Filter.
    You see the list of available exceptions as on the specified effective date.

  4. Select the Entity ID checkbox respective to the exception code for which you want to perform the release.
    You can select all or more than one exceptions to release at a time.

  5. Click Save to release the exceptions.
    You see the system has removed the released exception from the Exceptions pane.



To release an exception via Exceptions search:

  1. In Portfolio Data Center, from the left navigation, select Portfolio Desk and click the appropriate entity type.
    You see the Summary workspace with the available list of entities.

  2. Click the View By drop-down list and select Exceptions.

  3. Provide the appropriate search criteria and then click Search.
    You see the Exception pane displaying the exceptions that meet the search criteria in the upper grid and the Entity pane in the lower grid. When you highlight an exception in the Exceptions pane, the system displays the corresponding entities having those exceptions in the Entity pane.

  4. Select the exception you want to release from the Exceptions pane.
    You see the system list the associated entities for the selected exception in the Entity pane. 

Case 1: To release an exception associated with an entity.

  1. On the Home tab, in the Actions group, click Release Exception. Or right-click and select Release Exception.
    You see the Release Exception dialog box.

    You see the system has removed the released exception from the Exceptions pane for the selected entity.
    Note:  By default, if there is more than one entity that is associated with the exception, then the exception is released only for the entity that is first in the order list. Otherwise click on the specific entity to release just that exception.

Case 2: To release an exception associated with multiple entities.

  1. Right-click on the exception and select Release Exception for All Portfolios.
    You see a success message on updation. The system releases the exception for all the associated entities and also the exception is removed from the Exceptions pane.
