In System Management Center you can add your own purge rules to the EM Shell to use instead of the default rules. These rules can be setup either across all instances of EM Shell or at a individual instance of EM Shell. You can also make changes to the EM Shell purge rules for each instance of EM Shell. When making a change to one of the rules, you need keep the same rule name and group name to override the core value. After you create a custom profile and then add a rule with the same name and group as core, your core rule should display in bold.
Adding purge rules is a two-step process: you create the EM Shell Profile and then you add the purge rules to it.

At the global level, open SMC and select System Settings in the bottom left-hand corner. Next, select Profiles in the left-hand navigation area. Here you will see the GLOBAL settings. The setting provided by Eagle are show in the Service Type of EMShell and Description of EM Shell profile and the Is Core flag is set to “Yes”. We do not allow you to change the Core settings, but you can add new settings to override the Core setting for ALL EM Shell instances. It is a two-step process: you create the EM Shell Profile and then you add the purge rules to it.
To create the EM Shell profile:
- In SMC, in the left navigaion pane, select System Settings.
You see the Sytem Settings workspace. - Click Profiles.
You see the global settings.
Update the EM Shell purge rules for each instance of EM Shell
You can make changes to the EM Shell purge rules for each instance of EM Shell.
To update the EM shell purge rule for each instance of EM shell:
- In SMC,in the left naviagtion pane, select Environment.
- Select Services.
You see... - Select the EM Shell instance that you want to update and then right-click and select Show Details.
- Select the Confguration tab and then the Service Properties in Database option.
Select which urge rule you want to change for the selected instance of EM Shell.
