A description of the D schedules follows.
Schedule D – Part 1
Schedule D – Part 1 is the Long-Term BONDS Owned December 31 of Current Year NAIC schedule. The schedule lists the long term bonds owned as of the end of the reporting period.
Schedule D – Part 2 – Section 1
Schedule D – Part 2 – Section 1 is the Preferred Stocks Owned December 31 of Current Yea NAIC schedule. The schedule lists the preferred stocks owned as of the end of the reporting period.
Schedule D – Part 2 – Section 2
Schedule D – Part 2 – Section 2 is the Common Stocks Owned December 31 of Current Year NAIC schedule. The schedule lists the common stock owned as of the end of the reporting period. The schedule displays a total line for common stocks and a total line for preferred and common stocks.
Schedule D – Part 3
Schedule D – Part 3 is the Long-Term Bonds and Stocks ACQUIRED During Current Year NAIC schedule. The schedule lists the long term bonds and preferred and common stock acquired during the current year that are still owned as of the end of the current reporting year.
Bonds, preferred stocks, and common stocks are grouped separately, showing a subtotal for each category.
There are other considerations, when using this schedule: If long term bonds or stocks (at a lot level) were acquired and sold during the current year, security level detail is not included on this schedule. These lots are included in summary total amounts carried over to this schedule from Schedule D – Part 5 for bonds, preferred stocks, and common stocks.
Schedule D – Part 4
Schedule D – Part 4 is the Long-Term Bonds and Stocks SOLD, REDEEMED or Otherwise DISPOSED OF During Current Year NAIC schedule. The schedule lists the long term bonds and stocks sold, redeemed, or otherwise disposed of during the current year.
Bonds, preferred stocks, and common stocks are grouped separately, showing a subtotal for each category.
There are other considerations, when using this schedule: Security lots acquired during the current year and fully disposed of during the current year are not listed in the schedule. These lots are included in summary total amounts carried over to this schedule from Schedule D – Part 5 for bonds, preferred stocks, and common stocks.
Schedule D – Part 5
Schedule D – Part 5 is the Long-Term Bonds and Stocks ACQUIRED During Year and Fully DISPOSED OF During Current Year NAIC schedule. The schedule lists the long term bonds and stocks acquired during the current year and fully disposed of during the current year. Security information on the schedule includes:
Bonds, preferred stocks, and common stocks are grouped separately, showing a subtotal for each category.
Subtotals from Schedule D – Part 5 are reflected in Schedule D – Part 3 for acquisitions, and Schedule D – Part 4 for disposals.
Schedule D – Part 6 – Section 1
Schedule D – Part 6 – Section 1 is the Valuation of Shares of Subsidiary, Controlled or Affiliated Companies schedule. The schedule lists the common and preferred stocks for affiliated companies owned as of the end of the reporting period.
Schedule D – Part 6 – Section 2
Schedule D – Part 6 lists the lower-tier company information for common and preferred stock reported on Schedule D – Part 6 – Section 1 as of the end of the reporting period.
