You can access IWS in several ways.

Note

IWS is currently in Early Adopter mode. Eagle requests that you contact your Eagle representative prior to using this product.

From Your Desktop

Once you have met the desktop and server prerequisites and performed the server installation steps, you are ready to access the IWS client from your desktop.

Initial Access

To access IWS from your desktop for the first time:

  1. Open Internet Explorer and enter the URL: https://tools.eagleaccess.com/iws45/.
You see a popup window for Integration & Workflow Studio and the version details.
  2. Click Launch.

    Note

If you have not yet installed the desktop prerequisites, you can click Install instead of Launch and prerequisites will be installed. This process is very quick and once it is completed, IWS will open and you will be prompted to log into your Eagle environment.
  3. Enter the server name and your username and password for the Eagle environment you want to use with IWS.

    Note

The server name field may be defaulted to show an example.  However, you will want to change this to be the actual URL you are trying to log into.

Ongoing Access

With the initial install of IWS, an icon is created on your desktop.

To access IWS from your desktop after the first time:

  1. Double click the desktop icon or enter the URL https://tools.eagleaccess.com/iws45/ directly in the browser.
  2. Click Launch.
  3. Enter the server name and your username and password for the Eagle environment you want to use with IWS.

Note

The server name field may be defaulted to show an example. However, you will want to change this to be the actual URL you are trying to log into.

In Read Only Mode

By default, IWS operates in a fully functional mode in your Eagle environment. However, you can set up an environment so that IWS will operate in a read only mode in that environment.

Note

You should always only develop and change IWS workflows in your DEV region.

Set up an Environment for IWS Read Only

To set up for IWS read only, the Eagle environment must have a System Parameter entry for Sys_Item 216 where the sys_value is set to "Y".

Note

This system setting entry will be automatically included as part of the core Eagle database scripts for new installs as of V2015 R1 and will be set to "N" by default. If you are on an earlier Eagle version, you can manually add this setting via the System Parameters window in Eagle's System Management Center.

If the environment has the sys_item 216 with a value of "Y", IWS will be read only.

If the environment has the sys_item 216 and the value is anything but "Y" or if the environment does not have sys_item 216 at all, IWS will open in standard (fully functional) mode.

Confirm IWS Read Only Mode

When an environment is set to be IWS read only, you will see an initial warning message alerting you that you are in read only mode in this environment. In addition, "read only mode" is displayed at the top of the window and buttons that are not applicable in read only mode such as Save Solution are disabled.

Via Environments Using Ping

IWS can be used in Eagle environments using Ping authorization.

IWS uses the EagleML Web service to work with the Message Center. In Eagle's Intranet, Ping is configured to ignore EagleML Web services. However, some regions are configured to not ignore Web services. Therefore, IWS has been coded to support access to Eagle environments using Ping in all cases.

Note

In environments not using Ping, enter your Eagle Id into the User Name field and your Eagle password into the Password field. Your Eagle Id and passwords are environment specific.

To log in:

  1. Launch IWS.
You see the Log in dialog box.
  2. Enter the specific environment into Server field. You can also select it from the dropdown list if you have previously accessed the environment in IWS.
  3. IWS will automatically detect environments using Ping authorization. Once you enter the server name and move to the next field, if the environment is using Ping authorization, IWS will display (PING) next to the URL after a few seconds.
  4. In the environment using Ping authorization, enter your network user Id into the User Name field and your network password into the Password field.
  5. Click Log in.
    IWS is started as usual.
