Master fund entities are designed to track transactions and trades for mutual funds that involve capital stock and NAV processing. In the Create Master Fund panel, you can manually add a master fund entity. When you add a master fund entity, the system creates an entity record, a record for the entity/primary accounting basis, and accounting periods for the entity/primary accounting basis.

If you want to add an additional accounting basis to a master fund entity, use the Add a Basis to a Portfolio panel. You can also change master fund entity information using the Edit Master Fund/Sector panel.

To manually create a master fund entity:

  1. Do one of the following:
    - In Portfolio Data Center, in the left navigation pane, click Portfolio Desk Accounting Portfolio Setup > Mutual Funds Create Master Fund.
    - In Accounting Center, in the left navigation pane, click Setup Portfolio Setup > Mutual Funds Create Master Fund.
You see the Create Master Fund panel.
  2. Complete the options on the Create Master Fund panel.
  3. Add one or more share classes using the pane in the lower portion of the Create Master Fund panel, as follows:
    –  Right-click the lower pane and select Add Rows.
    –  Enter the number of rows you want to add on the Enter Rows Count dialog box and click OK. You need to add a row for each additional share class you want to add to the fund.
