This section describes how to manage date rules, configure OLAP Reports, Advanced Reports, and Eagle Accounting Reports for distribution

About the Inbox

The Eagle Portal Inbox in the Reports window is a central location where users can view reports and other internal documents from the Eagle warehouse and Eagle accounting system over the Internet.

From the Reports window, you can view reports sent to the Inbox, view scheduled reports, and create new reports for submission. Inbox reports and the count of new reports received are displayed in the Reports window.

You can view reports sent in the following file formats:

  • Adobe Systems Portable Document Format (PDF)

  • Microsoft Excel format (XLS)

  • Eagle Investment Systems proprietary format (ERX)

  • Comma Separated Value text format (CSV)

You can also view non-Eagle reports. However, you must build a custom utility as part of the Eagle Portal implementation or use the Portal Direct Document Delivery tool. For more information, contact our professional services team for information on the Portal Direct Document Delivery tool.ribution, and how to resubmit reports in the Eagle Portal.

Send Eagle Accounting Reports to the Inbox

You can send Advanced Reports for Eagle’s Accounting solution to the Inbox.

To send Eagle Accounting reports to the Inbox:

  1. Set Schedule Service 1 in the Windows Services list on the Eagle Accounting Web server to run as User.

  2. Include the following settings in the ScheduleService.ini file in the EagleSTAR\Tpe\Cfg directory.
These settings enable you to use Eagle Accounting reports in the Eagle Portal.
ReportDir =\\IP of Target Machine\portal (Portal is the share name of the folder on the target machine.)
User = Windows User Id (Windows User Id is the user identification (ID) used to log in to the target machine.)
Password = Pwd (Pwd is the Windows password for this user on the target machine.)

  3. Set up the schedule configuration for the report profile.

  4. Configure the report profile to be sent to the Eagle Portal.
Reports associated with this profile are scheduled to be distributed to the Eagle Portal. Through the schedule configuration of this profile, you can select an entity list to run the report and override the entity configured in the Eagle Accounting report profile.

Send External Files to the Inbox

You can use the Portal Direct Document Delivery tool to distribute reports from third party external systems, such as trading, research, or compliance systems to the Inbox. For more information on this tool, contact Eagle Global Professional Services (GPS).

You can also distribute external reports to the Eagle Portal by including a hypertext link to an external XLS or PDF file within an Eagle Advanced Report. This is not a recommended practice.

Eagle recommends creating an Advanced Report that contains a link to the XLS or PDF file that you want to distribute to the Eagle Portal. There must be logic in the distribution process to associate the document files with a Client Reporting batch.

You can open the Advanced Report and click the embedded link to open the XLS or PDF file. The distribution dll or exe files interrogate the mdb for the location of that document and post the XLS or PDF file to the Eagle Portal.

Resubmit Reports

You can configure the Eagle Portal to allow resubmitting of reports delivered to the Inbox. For example, a report may be resubmitted using another entity or time period or viewed in an Excel format instead of the PDF format.

To configure the Eagle Portal for report resubmission, you must add a report profile and specify the report details. To resubmit reports, you have to define the report categories and scheduling frequencies in the Codes window in the System Management Center. The code for Inbox submission categories is Portal Report Types and the interface is Eagle PACE.
