In the Entity Detail window, you can view and edit entity details including historic data. You can edit any entity-related field or relationship assignment on the Entity Details, Benchmark, Peer Group, Disclosures, Asset Mix Policy, or Fee Schedule tabs.

To view an entity:

  1. In the Portfolio Desk workspace, in the left navigation pane, click the appropriate entity.
    The summary workspace for the entity type you selected, displaying available entities of that type.
  2. Click the View By drop-down list and then select one of the following options:

    AllDisplay all entities that meet the search criteria
    ExceptionsDisplay only entities that meet the search criteria and that have at lease one exception

  3. (Optional) Complete the required search criteria and then click Search.
  4. The search displays all entities or a list of the entities that meet the criteria you selected for the category you picked in left navigation.
  5. Double-click the entity you want to view. The Edit Entity panel opens, showing the Entity Details tab as the default.

    Note the following links on the window. Click each link to open display that type of information for the entity. The following table lists the type of information 


To edit an entity:

  1. In the Portfolio Desk workspace, in the left navigation pane, click the appropriate entity.
    The summary workspace for the entity type you selected, displaying available entities of that type.
  2. Click the View By drop-down list and then select one of the following options:

    AllDisplay all entities that meet the search criteria
    ExceptionsDisplay only entities that meet the search criteria and that have at least one exception
    X
  3. (Optional) Complete the required search criteria and then click Search.

  4. The search returns a list of entities that meet the criteria you selected for the category you picked in left navigation.
  5. Double-click the entity you want to view or edit. The Edit Entity panel opens, showing the Entity Details tab as the default. The following tabs are also available:

  6. On the Entity Details tab, double-click the field you want to change.

    The Edit dialog box opens. By default, the entity details panel is rendered in current mode (you can edit only the current record). To view and make edits to historic data, enable history mode as explained in Understand History Mode.

    For entity cross-reference fields, click the field, then enter the value into the text box, and then go to Step 11.
    In the New Value text box, enter the new value for the field. If a field is based on a code value, PDC displays a drop-down list of available code values.

    In the Type drop-down list, select an edit type. Select one of the following options:

    OptionsDescription

    Override

    The system uses the new value for the field.
    DefaultThe system uses the new value if no vendor data is received and the override date has not expired.

    Temporary Override

    The system uses the new value until new vendor data is received.
  7. Use the date selectors to specify the Start Date and End Date for the new value. If you want the new value to remain permanent, click the No End Date check box.
  8. In the Reason Code drop-down list, select a reason code.
  9. (Optional) Type a comment and then click Save.
    PDC holds the update and displays a blue arrow to the left of the field. At this point, the system has not processed the edit. You can edit additional fields if needed.
  10. After you edit the appropriate fields, click Save.
    The Change Summary dialog box opens, displaying the summary of changes.
  11. Click View & Submit Changes.
    The Change Summary dialog box opens, listing the entities you have edited, and the attributes you assigned the edit.
  12. To make the edits, click Submit Changes.
    To cancel the edits, click Cancel.
    You receive an information message that contains comments about any remaining exceptions for the composite.
  13. To return to the Portfolio Desk workspace, close the Entity Details tab.
