You can use portfolio turnover entity links in order to run the Portfolio Turnover report for an entity that owns a blocker mutual fund to pull the underlying security transactions and market values within that blocker fund into the ownership entity's portfolio turnover calculation and report. Blocker funds, also called Cayman funds, are designed to allow for a mutual fund that does not want to own a particular fund due to tax implications to gain market exposure to these securities.

When you use the Portfolio Turnover report to report on an entity that has portfolio turnover entity links to linked funds such as blocker funds, the portfolio turnover calculations and reporting include the transactions and market values of both the entity and also of specified underlying securities held under a separate linked fund, thus creating a portfolio turnover for a consolidated portfolio.

In the Create Portfolio Turnover Entity Link panel, you can add one or more portfolio turnover entity links for an entity for use in Portfolio Turnover reporting. You can create portfolio turnover entity links if you use the Portfolio Turnover report to report on entities that hold blocker funds.

This procedure assumes that you previously set up the entities for any funds an entity owns, such as blocker funds, that you plan to use in Portfolio Turnover reporting.

To add a portfolio turnover entity link:

  1. In Accounting Center, in the left navigation pane, click Setup > Portfolio Rules > Portfolio Turnover Entity Links > Create Portfolio Turnover Entity Link.
You see the Create Portfolio Turnover Entity Link panel.
  2. In the Entity ID or Entity Name field, identify the entity that you plan to include in the Portfolio Turnover Report results.
  3. In the Linked Entity ID or Linked Entity Name field, enter a value in one or more lookup fields to uniquely identify the entity you want to link to the selected entity.
You can specify an entity ID or an entity name value for the linked fund, which can represent a blocker fund.
  4. Complete the options on the Create Portfolio Turnover Entity Link panel.
You can specify a date range for which the owner fund owns the blocker fund.
  5. If you want to create multiple portfolio turnover entity links for the selected entity, use the pane at the bottom of the panel, as follows:
    - Click the lower pane.
    - Right-click and select Add Rows.
    - Enter the number of rows you want to add in the Enter Rows Count dialog box and click OK. You need to add a row for each additional entity you want to associate with the selected entity.
