IWS for EDS interfaces (EDS Tool) allows you to use the following controls grouped on tabs available in the ribbon.

Solution Tab

At the top of the window on the Solution tab, you can use controls in the following groups:

  • Manage. Allows you to Create New solution, Open an existing solution, Save a solution, Close the current solution. If another solution is open, then the Create and Open actions prompt you to save it before closing.
  • Distribution. Allows you to Publish Solution to a region, Export Solution, and Import Solution.
  • Debug. Allows you to Test Solution, test the current solution, and Preview the json definition of the current interface. Unlike with IWS, you can test the solution without publishing it.

Worksheet Tab

In the Worksheet tab, you can use controls in the following groups:

  • General. Includes the Save current solution button, Run Test button, Sub Items button which toggles a switch from Taxonomy mapping to Source designer and back at the center of the worksheet.
  • Actions. Allows you to perform Undo and Redo actions.
  • Clipboard. Includes standard buttons Cut, Copy, and Paste.
  • View. Contains Preview Export, Settings (in development), and Disable Auto Scroll.

The content and functionality of the Shape and Grid sections are context-sensitive and depend on the currently selected object – Main Object, Mashup, Vocabulary, or Taxonomy.

Main Object

When you click the main dataset, the Shape and Grid groups become available:

  • Shape. Contains pins, Pin Left, Pin Right, and Unpin, which allow you to pin and unpin the main dataset from different locations on the canvas, and Refresh definition button for the main object.
  • Grid. Buttons are unavailable for the main object and appear dimmed. Select all rows, Copy grid to clipboard, and Copy grid to clipboard (excel) become active if you select any field in the main object.

Vocabulary

Shape and Grid groups (click Vocabulary):

When you click Vocabulary, the Shape and Grid groups become available:

  • Shape. Contains pins, Pin Left, Pin Right, and Unpin, which allow you to pin and unpin vocabulary from different locations on canvas, and the Properties button.
  • Grid. Buttons are unavailable for the main object and appear dimmed. They become active if you select any field in the Vocabulary object.

Mashup

When you click the source mashup in the Source Designer canvas, the Shape and Grid groups become available:

  • Shape. Contains pins, Pin Left, Pin Right, and Unpin, which allow you to pin and unpin the dataset from different locations on the canvas, and the Refresh definition button for the source mashup object, Rename mashup dataset button, and To inline, which is not available for the source designer canvas.
  • Grid. Buttons that appear dimmed are disabled for the current object. Select all rows, Copy grid to clipboard, and Copy grid to clipboard (excel) become active if you select any field in the main object.

Taxonomy

When you click Taxonomy Mapping, the Shape and Grid groups become available:

  • Shape. Contains pins, Pin Left, Pin Right, and Unpin, which allow you to pin and unpin Taxonomy from different locations on the canvas.
  • Grid. Buttons that appear dimmed are disabled for the Taxonomy object. Select any field you mapped into Taxonomy mapping to activate them.
