You can use a unit separation corporate action when a corporation elects to split securities. A unit separation corporate action can apply to equities and to fixed income securities. A unit is a combination of at least two types of securities (for example, bonds and warrants, or common stock and warrants).

During processing, the system allocates cost from the old security to the new securities. It distributes interest from the old debt security to the new debt security.
