In the Message Streams workspace, you can reprocess stream messages that failed. For example, if a message stream processed without a required file, it will generate a Failed message. Once the missing file has been received, you can reprocess the failed message. You can reprocess messages from the Message Streams area of the Monitor workspace and from the Message Status workspace.

To reprocess failed messages:

  1. In Automation Desk, click Monitor in the left navigation.
  2. In the upper left corner of the workspace, under Select Type, click Message Streams.
  3. In the Message Streams workspace, above Select Type, click the icon next to Automation Center Status as of date/time and specify the time interval.
  4. Click the double arrow to the right of the workspace to open the Search dialog box.
  5. In the Search dialog box, click the Stream Name drop down and select the message streams whose status you wish to view. Select additional search criteria, if needed, and click the green Search button.
  6. Click to select message stream whose Data Status column displays a red square which indicates that the stream contains messages that failed to process.
In this example, we will select a message stream, reprocess the failed message with overrides, and review exception status and details.
  7. In the first left bottom pane, scroll down and click a file whose Processing Status column displays Failed.
  8. In the second left bottom pane, review the messages. If the Status column is Failed, that message may be reprocessed.
  9. Click the message with the status Failed, click the Reprocess button on the ribbon and click with Overrides. Or, right click the failed message and select Reprocess from the menu.
  10. For the with Overrides option, in the Reprocess with Overrides dialog box, click the check box next to the message and click Reprocess Selected. To reprocess all messages, click Reprocess All and to reprocess only messages that have been modified, click Reprocess Modified.
  11. Click OK in the confirmation dialog box.

  12. Click the Refresh button on the ribbon and click Selected to refresh the status of the message.
You see that the Status column of the failed message now displays Reprocessed.
  13. To review the reprocessed message details, in the first left bottom pane, right click the Failed file, select Show Messages and click Last 50.
  14. In the Message Status workspace, review the details. Note that the message stream name and other relevant information is prefilled. To review the exceptions generated by the message, click the Exception Details button on the ribbon. Or, right click the message and select Exception Details from the menu.
  15. In the Exceptions workspace, click the Exception Status drop down and select All to review the exception details.
  16. If needed, refresh, print, or export the information displayed in the workspace.
