In the Metadata Manager, you can use the Snapshot window to manage different metadata snapshots. The Snapshot window allows five (5) snapshot slots and one primary slot. The primary slot is always the current environment. The remaining five slots are open and you can use them to import different snapshot files. You can import snapshots into any open snapshot slot and use these slots for snapshot comparison reporting. You can also set any snapshot slot as Active and view it in the browser.
To manage snapshots in snapshot slots:
1. From any Metadata Manager window, click Snapshot and select Snapshot Slots.
You see the Snapshots window. A snapshot slot may have the following status:
– Active. Snapshot slot contains the snapshot that has been selected for viewing in the browser. The default active snapshot slot is Primary.
– Open. Snapshot slot is open and available for import.
– Filled. Snapshot slot is filled. A snapshot file has been imported into this slot.
– Error. Snapshot slot had an error during file import.
– Importing. Snapshot is currently being imported into this snapshot slot.
2. To designate a specific snapshot as Active and available for viewing and browsing, click the row of the snapshot row and click Set Active.
3. To import a snapshot you created, drag and drop a file from the Snapshot Files right pane to the Snapshot Slot row where the Snapshot Slot Status equal to Open.
4. To remove a snapshot from the Active status and return the slot to the Open status, click the row of the snapshot and click Clear.
