You can use the Codes workspace to add, edit, and delete code values, code translations, code maps, and exchange code to map information.

Add Code Values

In the Create New Code/Code Value wizard, you can add code values.

To add code values to a code category:

  1. In the Setup workspace, in the left navigation, click Codes.
    You see the Codes workspace with the list of available code categories.
  2. Click the Code/Code Value tab and then click Create New.
    You see the Create New Code/Code Value wizard.

Define the Code

  1. In the Code Name box, enter a name for the code.
  2. In the Code Description box, enter a description.
  3. Select a Data Type Name from the drop-down list.
  4. Select the Code Value Short Description Length.
    –  Use the maximum database will allow.
    –  Limit the length of the code value short description. Then enter the Limit Length to number in the box.
  5. Indicate whether to Track Historical data by clicking No or Yes.
  6. Click Next.

Define the Code Values

Here you can define values for the code.

  1. Click Add Code Value.
  2. Click the Code Value Short Description box and enter a short description for the code.
  3. Click the Code Value Long Description box and enter a short description for the code.
  4. From the Source drop-down list, select a source or by clicking on to use Advanced Search.

  5. Repeat this process to add additional code values.
  6. Click Next.

Set Permissions

Here you can set permissions for maintaining the code/code values.

  1. Select a Business Group from the drop-down list or by clicking on to use Advanced Search.
    You see the name appear under the Permissions to maintain code/code values.
  2. Repeat this step to add additional business group names.
  3. Click the check box next to the business group name(s) to give them maintenance permissions. Or, click Set All to Maintainable to give permission to all.
  4. Click Save & Close.


Edit Code Values

In the Edit Code/Code Value wizard, you can edit code values.

To edit code values:

  1. In the Setup workspace, in the left navigation, click Codes.
    You see the Codes workspace with the list of available code categories.
  2. From the list of available codes, select the code you want to edit, and from the right-click menu select Edit.
    You see the Create New Code/Code Value wizard.
  3. Review the information, make the appropriate changes, and then click Save & Close.

Delete Code Values

You can delete a code from the workspace. It is important to note that when you delete a code, all code values will also be deleted.

To delete a code value:

  1. In the Setup workspace, in the left navigation, click Codes.
    You see the Codes workspace with the list of available code categories.
  2. From the list of available codes, select the code you want to delete and from the right-click menu select Delete.
    You see a dialog box asking you to  verify your selection.
  3. Click Ok.
    The code is deleted from the system.
