Manage the Silent Migration Process
Silent Migration allows you to migrate an Eagle Data File into an environment without logging into Eagle application. You can migrate any EGL file from a server specified directory into the destination environment using the Silent Migration.
A migration log is created during silent migration and placed into the Appserver logs directory. This functionality supports after-hours processing, allowing you to deposit a set of .EGL files into the specified directory and then begin the silent migration process manually or via a third party scheduling tool. Once the silent migration process is complete, you can review the log to verify it.
You can use the Silent Migration Wizard to migrate any component that you can migrate manually via Migration Wizard user interface.
Before you begin the silent migration process, be sure to set the default silent migration values. Refer to Configure Silent Migration for more details.
Silent Migration Export Process
With Silent Migration, you can perform the export process by dropping the component file in the destination directory's export folder to generate the .EGL/.ZGL file.
Before you begin:
Ensure that you have saved the migrated items you need in XML format. For the Silent Migration export process, the exported file must be in XML format.
For example, to export a policy component in PDC, access Portfolio Data Center > Setup > Policies.
Select a policy and then select Migrate > Export.
You see the Export Workspace.Choose a directory to save the file, apply the migration rule and then click Save Items to save the file in XML format.
Create a folder in the name of the user who has access to perform Silent Migration in the ../apps/eagle/data/migration/export path. For example, ../apps/eagle/data/migration/export/EAGLEADMIN.
To create a folder, go to the export folder, right-click and select Create Folder.
To perform the export process:
In the System Management Center, from the left navigation, select Environment > Installations.

The XML files dropped in this Export location is automatically picked and processed by the Appserver and it generates the .EGL/.ZGL file. The .EGL/.ZGL files which are generated successfully are placed in the Completed folder for you to review. For example: /data/migration/export/completed/EAGLEADMIN. You can use this exported .EGL/.ZGL file to import into the target environment. The failed migration files are placed in the Failed folder, for example /data/migration/export/failed/EAGLEADMIN.
