PDC assigns a release level to each entity it processes. PDC determines the release level based on the number of exceptions for specific fields in an entities policy. It assigns a release level and an optional validation to fields.

If all fields of a certain release level pass validation, the system releases the fund to the next level. A release level is a hierarchy, and determining it is based on the minimum level achieved. Portfolio Data Center tracks and maintains release levels as a code and code values.

Portfolio Data Center is prepopulated with a four-level hierarchy (level 0-level 3). To modify descriptions and add or remove levels, edit the list of code values.

Best Practices
Make changes during implementation before you process entities in PDC. PDC assigns each fund a release level based on passed or failed validations and the hierarchy in place when the funds are processed. Therefore, do not add or remove release levels after production processing occurs.

If you alter the hierarchy, the funds become out-of-sync with the release-level hierarchy. To alter the release-level hierarchy in production, you might have to reprocess every fund in the system to synchronize them. However, before doing so, consult Eagle. Release levels are a hierarchy with 0 being the lowest.

Therefore, the highest value in the hierarchy (based on the short description of the code value) should always be reserved for released with no exceptions (or a user-defined description of similar meaning). If you modify the hierarchy, you should then log out of PDC, select refresh server cache, and then log in again.

To Maintain

  1. Double-click the code set to open the launch the Edit Code/Code Value dialog box.
  2. To add a level, click the ellipsis in the lower left corner of the grid to enable line item editing
  3. Click the cell area for the column you are editing (no need to enter an update user or time).

Because you can customize the number of levels of in a release-level hierarchy, you also can customize the level at which the display shows as green. You control this option with a system setting. The default is to show entities with release level 3 as green. To change it, select Portfolio Data Center > Settings > System Settings > setting 1019.

Best Practice
To ensure setting 1019 is set to the number associated with the highest release level number in your hierarchy.
