After you perform the setup for cash balance accruals, you can open and update the cash balance position in the Cost object that is used for daily accruals.

Update Cash Balance Accrual Positions

In the Interest on Cash Balances - Update Accrual Position panel, you can manually open and update the cash balance position in the Cost object that is used for daily accruals. This panel allows you to accumulate cash balances in the Settled Cash Balance table by entity and cash account, and creates a cash balance accrual position in the Cost object with one open lot. The position has quantity but zero cost, and is not priced. The first time you use this option, you establish the cash balance accrual position. After the position is established in the Cost object, you use this option to insert an adjustment row in the Cost object to adjust the position up or down when the settled cash balance changes. This provides a history of the daily adjustments to the cash balance position. You can schedule this process to run on a regular basis.

To update cash balance accrual positions manually:

  1. From any Eagle window, click the Eagle Navigator button to access the Eagle Navigator.
  2. Enter Global Process Center in the Start Search text box.
  3. Click the Global Process Center link to access the Global Process Center.
    You see the Global Process Center.
  4. Open the Earnings folder in the left navigation and select Interest on Cash Balances - Update Accrual Position.
    You see the Interest on Cash Balances - Update Accrual Position panel.
  5. Complete the options on the Interest on Cash Balances - Update Accrual Position panel.
  6. Click Submit.

The first day you use this option, the system establishes the cash balance accrual position. When you use Position Viewer to view the Cost position for your cash balance accrual security, note that it has a value for Units, but no cost values, and the Open Lots tab shows a single open transaction. On each ensuing day after you use the Cash Balances - Update Accrual Position option, when you use Position Viewer to view the Cost position for your cash balance accrual security, the position Units have increased by the amount of the settled cash, and the Open Adjustments tab shows an adjustment for the amount of the settled cash. In the Interest on Cash Balances - Update Accrual Position panel, you can update cash balance positions manually. The options may vary according to your selections.

Update Cash Balance/Position

For update cash balance/position, there is only one option, Select Query Option (tag 2283). This option determines how to apply the position update, as follows:

  • One Entity/One Cash Account
  • One Entity/All Cash Accounts
  • All Entities/One Cash Account
  • All Entities/All Cash Accounts

Entity Information

The following are the options for entity information:

  • Entity ID (tag 1163). Specifies the identifier of the entity. It appears when you select One Entity/One Cash Account or One Entity/All Cash Accounts in the Select Query Option field.
  • Entity Name (tag 1164). Specifies the name of the entity. It appears when you select One Entity/One Cash Account or One Entity/All Cash Accounts in the Select Query Option field.

Cash Account Information

The following are the options for security information:

  • Cash Account Name (tag 11696). Specifies the name of the cash account for the custodian. It appears when you select One Entity/One Cash Account or All Entities/One Cash Account in the Select Query Option field.
  • Cash Account Number (tag 11697). Specifies the account number of the cash account for the custodian. It appears when you select One Entity/One Cash Account or All Entities/One Cash Account in the Select Query Option field.
  • Settlement Currency (tag 63). Displays the currency for the specified cash account.

Process Center

For Process Center, there is only one option, Process Center (tag 4896). This option specifies the entity's process center. It appears when you select All Entities/One Cash Account or All Entities/All Cash Accounts in the Select Query Option field.

Entity Attributes

For entity attributes, there is only one option, Partition (tag 95). This option specifies the entity partition code. It appears when you select All Entities/One Cash Account or All Entities/All Cash Accounts in the Select Query Option field.

Process Accruals for Cash Balances

In the Interest on Cash Balances - Accrue panel, you can process daily cash balance accruals manually. The system processes daily accruals against the cash balance position, and calculates the accruals based on the setup of the cash balance accrual security you linked to the cash account.

To process accruals for cash balances manually:

  1. From any Eagle window, click the Eagle Navigator button to access the Eagle Navigator.
  2. Enter Global Process Center in the Start Search text box.
  3. Click the Global Process Center link to access the Global Process Center.
    You see the Global Process Center.
  4. Open the Earnings folder in the left navigation and select Interest on Cash Balances - Accrue.
    You see the Interest on Cash Balances - Accrue panel.
  5. Complete the options on the Interest on Cash Balances - Accrue panel.
  6. Click Submit. 
    The Global Processing Results frame appears at the bottom of the panel. The Detail tab shows each entity/security that was accrued with a Status of Processed and Event Type of Earn. Otherwise, if the system finds no accruals to process, the system displays a message indicating it produced no loopbacks.

After you process accruals for cash balances, you can review them in Position Viewer. When you view the cash balance accrual security, you can select the Income Lots tab in the Income object and examine the income lots.

Interest on Cash Balances - Accrue Panel Options

In the Interest on Cash Balances - Accrue panel, you can process accruals for cash balances manually. The options may vary according to your selections.

Accrue

For accruals, there is only one option, Select Query Option (tag 2283). This option determines how to apply the accruals, as follows:

  • One Entity/One Cash Account
  • One Entity/All Cash Accounts
  • All Entities/One Cash Account
  • All Entities/All Cash Accounts

Entity Information

The following are the options for entity information:

  • Entity ID (tag 1163). Specifies the identifier of the entity. It appears when you select One Entity/One Cash Account or One Entity/All Cash Accounts in the Select Query Option field.
  • Entity Name (tag 1164). Specifies the name of the entity. It appears when you select One Entity/One Cash Account or One Entity/All Cash Accounts in the Select Query Option field.

Cash Account Information

The following are the options for cash account information:

  • Cash Account Name (tag 11696). Specifies the name of the cash account for the custodian. It appears when you select One Entity/One Cash Account or All Entities/One Cash Account in the Select Query Option field.
  • Cash Account Number (tag 11697). Specifies the account number of the cash account for the custodian. It appears when you select One Entity/One Cash Account or All Entities/One Cash Account in the Select Query Option field.
  • Settlement Currency (tag 63). Displays the currency for the specified cash account.

Earnings Date

The following are the options for earnings date:

  • Earn Through Date (tag 461). Specifies the earn through date. The default is the current day.
  • Process Center (tag 4896). Specifies the entity's process center. It appears when you select All Entities/One Cash Account or All Entities/All Cash Accounts in the Select Query Option field.

Earnings Rollback

For earnings rollback, there is only one option, Allow Earnings Rollback (tag 1257). This option indicates whether you want to roll back earnings to a previous earn through date. Options include: Yes and No. It appears when you select One Entity/One Cash Account or One Entity/All Cash Accounts in the Select Query Option field.

Domestic/Foreign Indicator

The following are the options for domestic/foreign indicator:

  • Domestic/Foreign Processing Indicator (tag 10706). Indicates the type of accruals you are processing. Leave this field blank for all accruals. this field appears when you select One Entity/One Cash Account or One Entity/All Cash Accounts in the Select Query Option field. Options include:
    –  Domestic Only (Local Currency = Base Currency)
    –  Foreign Only (Local Currency Not = Base Currency)
    –  None
  • Partition (tag 95). Specifies the entity partition code. It appears when you select All Entities/One Cash Account or All Entities/All Cash Accounts in the Select Query Option field.

Close Interest Accrual Periods

In the Close Interest Accrual Period panel, you can close the last interest accrual period for cash accounts associated with cash balance accrual positions. You can close the interest accrual period for a single cash account, or for all cash accounts associated with a specified entity or bank. After a coupon drops and you reconcile the cash payment, you can use this option because you want to close the accrual period so that backdated settlements do not cause a change to the reconciled interest and income balances for the period. If you close the interest accrual period, backdated cash settlements do not cause a change to the interest accruals for that period but are reflected in the daily accruals at the start of the next period. Be aware that closing interest accrual periods is not accounting basis specific, and applies to all bases.

To close interest accrual periods:

  1. From any Eagle window, click the Eagle Navigator button to access the Eagle Navigator.
  2. Enter Close Interest Accrual Period in the Start Search text box.
  3. Click the Close Interest Accrual Period (Accounting Center) link to access the panel.
    You see the Close Interest Accrual Period panel.
  4. Complete the options on the Close Interest Accrual Period panel.
  5. Click Submit.
    You closed the last interest accrual period for cash accounts associated with the selected entity, bank, or cash account. Reopening the accrual period updates the previous accrual lock date for the account record in the database. The lock date, which is the payment date minus one, becomes the current lock date until you reclose the last accrual period. .
  6. Close the Close Interest Accrual Period bottom tab to return to the Accounting Center.

Close Interest Accrual Period Panel Options

In the Close Interest Accrual Period panel, you can close the last interest accrual period for cash accounts associated with cash balance accrual positions. Note options may vary according to your selections.

Panel Options

The following are the panel options

  • Select Query Option (tag 2283). Indicates whether to close the interest accrual period for all cash accounts associated with a specific entity, bank, or cash account.
    Options include:
    –  Entity. Closes the interest accrual period for all cash accounts for all accounting bases of a specified entity.
    –  Bank. Closes the interest accrual period for all cash accounts associated with a specified custodian bank.
    –  Cash Account. Closes the interest accrual period for a specified cash account for a custodian.

Entity Information

The following are the options for entity information:

  • Entity ID (tag 1163). Specifies the identifier of the entity. It appears when you set the Select Query Option field to a value of Entity.
  • Entity Name (tag 1164). Specifies the name of the entity. It appears when you set the Select Query Option field to a value of Entity.

Bank Information

The following are the options for bank information:

  • Bank Code (tag 1176). Specifies the code value, or short name, used to identify the custodian bank holding the assets. It appears when you set the Select Query Option field to a value of Bank.
  • Bank Name (tag 1177). Specifies the name of the custodian bank associated with the selected custody bank code. It appears when you set the Select Query Option field to a value of Bank.

Cash Account Information

The following are the options for cash account information:

  • Cash Account Name (tag 11696). Specifies the name of the cash account for the custodian. It appears when you set the Select Query Option field to a value of Cash Account.
  • Cash Account Number (tag 11697). Specifies the account number of the cash account for the custodian. It appears when you set the Select Query Option field to a value of Cash Account.
  • Settlement Currency (tag 63). Displays the currency for the specified cash account.

Close Interest Accrual Period

The following are the options for close interest accrual period:

  • Period End Date (298). Displays the end date of the last accrual period for the selected cash account. This is the period you are closing for the cash account. It appears when you set the Select Query Option field to a value of Cash Account.
  • Action (tag 1257). Displays the text, Close Last Interest Accrual Period. This text is informational.

Reopen Interest Accrual Periods

In the Reopen Interest Accrual Period panel, you can reopen the last interest accrual period for cash accounts associated with cash balance accrual positions. You can reopen the interest accrual period for a single cash account, or for all cash accounts associated with a specified entity or bank. . If you closed the accrual period so that backdated settlements did not cause a change to the reconciled interest and income balances for the period, you can use this option to reopen the period. Be aware that reopening interest accrual periods is not accounting basis specific, and applies to all bases. Also consider whether the entity's accounting periods are open or closed. If all of the entity's accounting periods are closed and the interest accrual period is not closed, backdated settlements cause the rollback and replay of interest accruals but the replayed accruals carry the next day's accounting date.

To reopen interest accrual periods:

  1. From any Eagle window, click the Eagle Navigator button to access the Eagle Navigator.
  2. Enter Reopen Interest Accrual Period in the Start Search text box.
  3. Click the Reopen Interest Accrual Period (Accounting Center) link to access the panel.
    You see the Reopen Interest Accrual Period panel.
  4. Complete the options on the Reopen Interest Accrual Period panel.
  5. Click Submit.
    You reopened the last interest accrual period for cash accounts associated with the selected entity, bank, or cash account. Closing the accrual period updates the account record in the database with the accrual lock date. The lock date is the payment date minus one.
  6. Close the Close Interest Accrual Period bottom tab to return to the Accounting Center.

The following are the options for cash account information:

  • Cash Account Name (tag 11696). Specifies the name of the cash account for the custodian. It appears when you set the Select Query Option field to a value of Cash Account.
  • Cash Account Number (tag 11697). Specifies the account number of the cash account for the custodian. It appears when you set the Select Query Option field to a value of Cash Account.
  • Settlement Currency (tag 63). Displays the currency for the specified cash account.

Reopen Interest Accrual Period

The following are the options for reopen interest accrual period:

  • Period End Date (298). Displays the end date of the last accrual period for the selected cash account. This is the period you are reopening for the cash account. It appears when you set the Select Query Option field to a value of Cash Account.
  • Action (tag 1257). Displays the text, Reopen Last Interest Accrual Period. This text is informational.
