In the Metadata Manager, you can run a comparison report to identify item differences between two metadata snapshots. A snapshot is a "picture" of the metadata from a specific environment taken at a specific time. The Snapshot Simple Item Compare report compares the Active snapshot with the default Primary snapshot and captures any item differences including Item Name, Item ID, and item attributes for all metadata types. See the Manage Snapshot Slots section.
To run the Simple Item Compare report between two snapshots:
1.    From any Metadata Manager window, click Analysis, select Snapshot Comparison and click Simple Item Compare.
You see the Save Analysis Results dialog box that allows you to select a folder and file name where the Excel file with the analysis data will be stored.
2.    Enter the folder and file name for the Excel file.
3.    Click Save.
You see the Analysis Results window with the Summary view as the default.
4.    To access the actual Excel file, click Open File.
