Accounting services for selected accounting reports are currently available in Private Preview with a small number of clients, as we continue development and testing. For more information about report services, contact your BNY Mellon Relationship Manager.
Report services allow you to process reports in Eagle Accounting’s report package using microservices rather than using the Accounting Engine. These microservices are shared reusable components that use a Cloud native technology. You can deploy these accounting services on a private cloud (on premise), hybrid cloud, or public cloud (Microsoft Azure).
About Report Services
After you set up your environment to enable accounting services, you can either process a report in the Eagle Accounting report package through the Accounting Engine or through the corresponding report service, if available.
Report services:
Can reduce report run time and improve your experience running Eagle Accounting reports.
Modernize the code base for reporting and remove heavy reporting calculations. In some cases, accounting reports that use report services allow you to take advantage of recent data structure updates designed to improve report performance.
Allow faster upgrades and speed to market. You can deploy service changes outside of the Eagle product release schedule.
Are integrated with Eagle Accounting user interface(UI) panels and events that you run manually or automatically.
Allow you to easily switch between reporting through the Accounting Engine and reporting through report services.
Submit a Report using Report Services
To manually submit a report using report services, you use the Syncsend Engine Router option in the report panel to identify your processing method. If the Syncsend Engine Router (tag 9200) field has a value of:
RPT, the default value, and you previously set up the environment to enable the accounting service used with this panel, the system processes the panel using the report service. Otherwise, if you did not enable the accounting service used with this panel, the system processes the panel using the Accounting Engine.
A null value or a value other than RPT, the system processes the panel using the Accounting Engine.
If you are transitioning to use a report service, you can run the report both using the Accounting Engine and using the report service to compare processing results. In addition, after implementation, if you have a problem running the report with the report service, you can switch back to using the engine.
The following procedure assumes you previously set up your environment to enable accounting services associated with specific accounting package reports.
To manually run an accounting report processed using a report service:
Select the report panel for the accounting report package report that you want to run.
On the Form tab, in the Advanced group, click Show and then click Hidden Fields. You see the panel’s hidden fields in addition to those fields that are already visible. You usually do not need to view hidden fields when you manually use the report panel.
In the Syncsend Engine Router field, ensure the box has a value of RPT. The default value, RPT, allows the system to process the panel using accounting services so long as you previously set up the environment to enable the accounting service used with this panel. If you change the field value to blank or a value other than RPT, the system processes the report through the Accounting Engine.
Set up any fields required to use the report service. For example, for reports based on:
Cash, set the Generate Using New Cash Tables (tab 7003) field to Yes to use new cash activity tables for certain reports processed with report services.
Income staging, set the Data Source (tag 7020) field to Income Staging table.
Complete the remaining options on the panel.
Under Result Options, choose the optionsyou want to use.
Click Submit. The report results appear on your desktop for the view selected. The report results appear in the same manner whether you process the report using report services or the Accounting Engine.
