ISTAR provides interfaces to request security designations from the NAIC and apply updates returned from the NAIC.

You can create a full-request file (that is, the New SVO Replacement File) for all assets owned by an SVO Company Code. The NAIC processes the request and returns the set of designations for the assets owned by the SVO Company Code provided. Contact the NAIC for more information about the data provider fees, contact information, and instructions for submitting full-request and partial-request maintenance files. The New SVO Replacement File is the preferred method for generating the file as it aligns to the SVO formatting. The SVO Replacement File is a legacy file maintained for some long-standing clients.

To create a full-request file to NAIC (all assets owned by a SVO Company Code):

  1. In Accounting Center, in the left navigation pane, click Insurance > Control Reports > SVO > Replacement File - New.
You see the Replacement File – New panel.

In the sample figure you set Selection Type to SVO Company Code and Output Filter Options to All Positions. The panel also offers the Selection Type option to run by Client ID. Additionally, there is an Output Filter Options filtering option to only report Rated Positions, which produces output of assets that the NAIC will provide ratings for based on certain security attributes. The All Positions has no security attribute filters. When you run either option, the output provides open position as well as assets bought and sold during the period between the report start and end date of the request.
  2. Under Result Options, select Send results to Scheduler.
  3. Click Submit.
You see the Submit to Scheduler dialog box.

  4. Click OK.
You see the Status Window dialog box, which confirms that the request to create the request file was scheduled.

  5. You can use Automation Center to view as CSV. You can also execute the process directly from Automation Center, setting tag 9481 to CSS.
