Once you define a data quality validation rule or a data quality rule, you can schedule it to run in Eagle's Automation Center using the Data Quality Monitor Engine event type.

You cannot run data quality rules or schedule data quality rules from Data Steward.

Access Automation Center

The Automation Center allows you to access the process scheduling and monitoring functionality of the Eagle product suite.

To access Automation Center:

  1. From any Eagle window, click the Eagle Navigator button.
  2. Enter Automation Center in the Start Search text box and click the Automation Center link. Or, click All Programs and select Automation Center.
    You see the Automation Center.
  3. To exit the Automation Center, click the Eagle Navigator button, hover over Sign Out and click Close Automation Center.

Schedule a Rule

The Automation Center allows you to schedule events to run at a specific date and time. You can use the Data Quality Monitor Engine event type to schedule a data quality validation rule or a data quality rule. You can select various schedule rule options based on the requirements of your business.

To schedule a rule in Automation Center:

  1. From any Eagle window, click the Eagle Navigator button.
  2. Enter Automation Center in the Start Search text box and click the Automation Center link. Or, click All Programs and select Automation Center.
    You see the Automation Center.
  3. Click Automation Desk and click Events in the left navigation.
    You see the Events workspace.
  4. Click Create New on the ribbon.
    You see the Event Define dialog box.
  5. Enter a Name and click the Type drop-down list down and select Data Quality Monitor Engine.
  6. Enter a Description and click Next.
    You see the Event Details dialog box.
  7. Select a Date for the effective date of the data being tested.
    Options include:
    –  As Of (the default). Allows you to select a single date from the calendar.
    –  Date Range. Allows you to select begin and end date from calendars.
    –  Date Rule. Allows you to search and select a predefined date rule. The effective dates within the range are determined using the frequency and business calendar option on the enabled data quality rules.
  8. Click Default Entities to use the entities defined in the data quality rule or select from the Entity lookup.
  9. Select one or more rules from the Data Quality Rules drop-down list down.
    If you select no rules, all enabled rules are processed.
  10. Click Save and Schedule.
    You see the Schedule Define workspace.
  11. Complete the Schedule Define options and click Next. For more information, see Schedule Define Options in Schedule Rule Options.
    You see the Schedule Time workspace.
  12. Complete the Schedule Time options and click Next. For more information, see Schedule Time Options in Schedule Rule Options
    You see the Schedule Dependency workspace.
  13. Complete the Schedule Dependency options and click Next. For more information, see Schedule Dependency Options in Schedule Rule Options.
    You see the Schedule Notifications workspace.
  14. Complete the Schedule Notifications options and click Next. For more information, see Schedule Notifications Options in Schedule Rule Options.
  15. Click Save and Finish.
    You see a message that the schedule has been saved successfully.
