In Ledger Item Editor's My Transfers view, when you edit a ledger transfer profile, you can add one or more source ranges for a Transfer Category/Target Account/Offset Account grouping. You can add a new row for a source range with the appropriate source accounts if the default source accounts provided by Eagle do not meet your business needs.

To add a source range:

  1. In Ledger Item Editor's My Transfers view, review the ledger transfer profile that you are editing.
The left grid shows each transfer category for the target account to which you are transferring the ledger balances, along with the offset account. The right grid shows the source accounts to close out at year end for the selected transfer category/target account row.
  2. In the left grid, click the row of the Transfer Category/Target Account/Offset Account entry with a source range you want to add.
You see the related source accounts in the right grid.
  3. On the Ledger Item Editor tab, in the Source Range group, click New Source Range
You see a new row at the bottom of the right grid. The new row contains blank values. When you click this option to add the first source range for a Transfer Category/Target Account/Offset Account, the entry in the left grid moves from the bottom of the grid to a different row, so that that the target accounts appear in sequence.
  4. Choose the start and end accounts in the source range in one of two ways:
    - Use the Select Account Interval option to select a consecutive range of accounts in a separate window. For details, see Select an Account Interval for a Source Range.
    - Click the Start Account and End Account down arrows and choose each account separately. Details follow.
  5. Click the Start Account cell down arrow.
You see a list of ledger account numbers and descriptions. You can type several characters if you want the system to highlight the account number or account description you type and/or to advance the selected row to one with the text you entered.
  6. Click an account number and description from the list for the first source account in the source range.
You see the selected account number in the Start Account cell.
  7. Click the End Account cell down arrow.
In the Start Account area, you see the description that corresponds to the selected account number. In the End Account area, you see a list of ledger account numbers and descriptions. You can type several characters if you want the system to highlight the account number or account description you type and/or to advance the selected row to one with the text you entered.
  8. Click an account number and description from the list for the last source account in the source range.
You see the selected account number in the End Account cell.
  9. Continue to add another source range, or to edit the ledger transfer profile.

WRITERS NOTE: The New Source Range option is not available after you add a range by selecting options with the mouse. The only way you can make it available is to press Enter or to click another source range row. Is this standard grid behavior?
What ledger accounts can you select as source accounts? Only core ledger accounts?
